The Komodo Academy is proud and honored to be able to provide the best Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and Kids Martial Arts program in the area. Our programs encompass the mind, body, and soul principles that have self defense benefits and life changing effects. Our Brazilian Jiu-jitsu (BJJ) Program is led by Professor Stephan Roy and is liaised with Trujitsu HQ in Bakersfield, California. Students are encou

raged to take part with the healthy lifestyle promoted by BJJ practitioners. All classes are taught by exciting and innovative instructors with motivation for personal best. At The KOMODO Academy we not only teach adult programs but specialize in Kids Martial Arts as well. Our Kids program in compass traditional self-defence jiujitsu and sport style of jiujitsu. Our Dynamic and educational system will encourage your child to strive for their personal best in all aspects of their lives!

What a great weekend of jiu-jitsu, competition and friendship! Everyone stepped up to refine their skillset and pressure test them. Amazing support from families, friends, coaches, teammates and instructors :) Nearly a hundred jiujitsukas going out there and facing their challenges!! Now back at training 🥋🥋🥋

Huge congratulations to Luke on winning his very first BJJ Super Fight today!

We are incredibly proud of the courage, composure, and hard work he showed out there.

Over Spring Break while classes were paused, we were anything but 😅

Long days, late nights, and a whole lot of effort went into renovating and expanding the Academy with one goal in mind: To create an even better experience for our students and families.

At Komodo Academy, we’re always asking: How can we do better?
Because growth doesn’t just happen on the mats, it happens in how we serve our community too.

After a day of work, any stressors, or just to do something for ourselves, Jiu Jitsu is the best “me time” we can think of!

Reminder that we are closed for classes this week during Spring Break and we are SO excited to welcome you back on April 13th with all the work we’ve been putting into the Academy for you to enjoy 🥋😃🛠️

A few weeks ago we had our “Family Gathering” event night at the Academy where we had all of our adults and higher level teenage Jiu Jitsu students all training together. It was an awesome night full of good vibes, a few well deserved promotions of stripes and belts, and we even had .wellness join us at the end with açai bowls for everyone (so delicious especially after working up a sweat!).

Congratulations to everyone who levelled up!!

And to everyone who is part of this little corner of Grande Prairie at the Komodo Academy, thank you for showing up! We are full of gratitude every day for this community🥋👊

RIP to the great Chuck Norris.

Our team had an opportunity to meet him in 2019 at the Martial Arts Supershow, and he was so kind taking a moment for everyone individually to shake their hand and say a few words. We are grateful to have had that experience and are saddened to hear of the news today.

Huge thank you to Alain Moussi (black belt martial artist, Hollywood stunt performer, and actor) for an incredible seminar this past Saturday at Komodo Academy.

Alain brought his knowledge of Hollywood fight choreography straight onto our mats, giving our students a rare, behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to perform at the highest level.

After the seminar, a few of our students told him they’re now inspired to become professional stunt performers themselves one day!

35 years of friendship… all because of martial arts.

This weekend was special.

Having my good friend Alain spend the weekend at Komodo Academy sharing his knowledge, experience, and passion with our students was something I’ll always appreciate.

Alain and I met through martial arts over three decades ago, and over the years our friendship has grown far beyond the mats. Every time we get together it’s the same rhythm — lots of laughs, big ideas, talking about our projects, and most importantly mentoring each other, listening, and offering honest guidance when it’s needed.

That’s one of the gifts martial arts gives us… lifelong relationships built on respect, growth, and shared experiences.

Thank you, Alain, for an incredible weekend of seminars and for being the kind of friend who keeps pushing me to grow — as a martial artist and as a person.

Grateful for 35 years… and many more to come.

We are incredibly excited to announce that Hollywood action star and martial arts expert Alain Moussi will be coming to Komodo Jiu Jitsu Academy for two special seminars open to the public this Saturday March 14th!

Alain Moussi is a black belt martial artist, stunt performer, and actor known for starring in the Kickboxer film series and appearing in major productions like Jiu Jitsu, King of Killers, and Nobody. He has also performed stunt work for blockbuster films such as X-Men: Apocolypse and Su***de Squad.

This is a rare opportunity for our city to train with someone who has spent decades mastering martial arts and choreographing Hollywood fight scenes. Alain brings incredible knowledge, energy, and charisma and if you’ve ever been to one of his seminars we’ve hosted previously, you know he delivers an unforgettable experience on the mats.
