Aquatera Community Skating Oval

Aquatera Community Skating Oval Hosted by the Peace Wapiti Speed Skating Club Hockey sticks and pucks are strictly prohibited. Please skate counter-clockwise. We hope to see you on the ice!

The Aquatera Community Skating Oval is graciously hosted by the Peace Wapiti Speed Skating Club in partnership with the City of Grande Prairie. Located West of Eastlink Centre on the Community Knowledge Campus, it’s a 400 metre outdoor skating surface that community members can access free of charge.

Starting October 1, 2026, recycling in the City of Grande Prairie will be managed by Circular Materials under Alberta’s Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) framework. Over the Easter weekend it got warm enough to finally weaken the ice slab so that's that. The benches are stowed and good to see the grass again.

We thank the community for getting winter laps in at the oval.

Thank you Smash & Sons Contracting Ltd for brushing the oval!

Skaters, you will have to check out the ice. Probably not a smooth surface because of the types of recent snow and sleet but as temperatures warm, the surface usually self levels a bit.
