Hey Cataracts Fans attending the Saturday, January 18th game at the Joe – the Cataracts Hockey Team, in partnership with the South and Central Health Foundation, are inviting you to bring a teddy bear to donate to our local hospitals for children in need of a cuddle.

This year’s teddy bears, will be donated to hospital emergency rooms across our region (from Baie Verte to Lewsiporte to Harbour Breton) to be gifted to a child by ER staff or paramedics on the ambulance to comfort them in their time of need.

Bears will also be distributed to the Women and Children’s Health Unit, as we are happy to say all the bears donated at last year’s event have found new homes with children who have visited their unit this past year!

Foundation staff and volunteers will be set up at the stadium to accept your stuffed animals. Those who bring a bear, or make a monetary donation, will receive an entry for a chance to win one of two $50 gift cards to be drawn for at the game.

For those who would like to donate a stuffed animal, but cannot be at the game, there will be a Teddy Bear Donation Box set up in the lobby at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre. For more information, call Wendy at the Foundation office at (709) 292-2393.

The Royals would like to extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of Allan Cup Champion and former Royal Gilbert Longpré.
Gilbert played a number of years with multiple Newfoundland teams including the Cataracts and Jets.
