I find myself writing in my notes a LOT while reading, listening to podcasts, hiking, or getting in my cardio. Last night I wrote ‘the focus is in the process, not the outcome’ and while I think this is important in every aspect of life I think it’s especially important in fitness/wellness. I’ve been spending a lot of time focusing on practicing ‘being where my feet are’ and if you are anything like me and are a chronic planner or to do list maker than this can be extremely difficult.
Often times I find during lifting, stretching, yoga, and especially cardio I find myself consistently asking ‘what’s next?’ thus going into a rabbit hole of the million things I have to do the rest of that day, what I have going on next week, or even what I’m going to do far in the future. Instead of enjoying what I’m doing, being present, focusing on the mechanics of a movement, proper form, putting intention into my stretch, or even taking in the scenery on a hike my brain travels off and I am no longer focusing on the process. This causes miss lifts, poor technique, and the inability to de-stress during the things that are supposed to be relaxing, feeling as if the experience was wasted because I may have physically been there, but was I really where my feet were?
👉🏼 I challenge YOU to be where your feet are for the rest of this week, and to focus on the process not the outcome for what ever your goals are right now 👈🏼
I promise if you keep this in your conscience for the rest of the week it will be something you will find meaning in which will cause you to subconsciously be reminded of it in the future when you need it.
✨Be where your feet are, experience what’s around you to the fullest, and focus on the process of becoming the greatest version of yourself ✨
