Vent fort, mais pas trop. Je fais plus de deux heures en presque sur place par moments. Pygargues, hélicos, et le coucher du soleil en vue. Mirjam a fait une descente hier.
Strong wind, but not too much. I did over two hours almost not moving at times. Bald eagles, helis, and the sunset in sight. Mirjam had a sled yesterday.

Soleil et prévision de soleil toute la semaine. Dommage qu'il soit si bas. 1:20 de vol sous l'inversion à hauteur du 9k. Mirjam (probablement) a aussi tenu un bout. Très froid mais pas pire avec les pantalons de ski.
Sunny with sun forecast all week. Too bad the sun is so low. 1:20 flight under the inversion at around 9,000 feet. Mirjam (probably) managed to stay up for a while, too. Very cold, but not too bad with ski pants on.

Retour du beau temps ce dimanche 11 oct mais Mirjam a fait des vols descentes les deux derniers jours quand même. Aujourd'hui, elle fait moins d'une heure, probablement à cause du froid. J'ai décollé plus t**d sans la voir et atterrit plus près du coucher du soleil pour plus d'une heure, assez froid vers la fin. Va falloir sortir les pantalons de ski. Très bons thermiques qui montaient plus haut que les sommets.
Fine weather returned this Sunday, October 11, though Mirjam had managed some sled rides over the previous two days regardless. Today, she flew for less than an hour, likely due to the cold. I launched later without seeing her and landed closer to sunset after a flight of over an hour, got pretty cold towards the end. Time to take the ski pants. There were excellent thermals rising above the peaks.

Mercredi 7 octobre, nébulosité variable, vent léger. Je ne pense pas voler car les thermiques ont besoin de plus de soleil. Mais Aidan offre une montée, alors je vais tester l'air. Mark et Mirjam sont déjà à la Vigie. Ils décollent en premier et les thermiques suffisent à monter sous le soleil (Mirjam dans la vidéo). Mais les nuages reviennent bientôt et ça descend. Moi, Aidan et Andrew suivent pour des descentes. On fait tous 30 minutes de vol au plus, quand même plaisant. Mirjam avait fait une première descente plus tôt.
Wednesday, October 7, variable cloud cover, light wind. I don't think I'll fly, as the thermals need more sun. But Aidan is offering a lift up, so I decide to test the air. Mark and Mirjam are already at the Lookout. They launch first, and the thermals are strong enough to climb in the sunshine (Mirjam in the video). However, the clouds soon return, and they start sinking. Aidan, Andrew, and I follow for some descents. We all get 30 minutes of flight time at most, enjoyable nonetheless. Mirjam had a first sled earlier.

Dimanche un peu spécial vu l'électricité coupée dans toutes la vallée. Le soleil brillant ne chauffait pas assez. Petits thermiques aux falaises du 5k, trop faibles et petites pour tenir longtemps. Dix-sept minutes de vol. Pas vu d'autres.
A somewhat unusual Sunday, given the power outage across the entire valley. The bright sun didn't provide enough heat. There were small thermals at the 5k cliffs, but they were too weak and small to stay up for long. Seventeen minutes of flight time. Didn't see anyone else.

Samedi 3 octobre, les stratus se dissipent vers 16:00 et quelques vols sont possibles. Vent léger ouest. Mirjam fait 50 minutes en grattant les falaises ouest. Je fais 25 minutes au 5k. Un nuages se pointe et l'ombrage termine les thermiques ce qui nous pousse vers les attéros. Andrew et Joffrey ont probablement aussi volé mais je ne les ai pas vu. Soleil prévu les prochains jours.
On Saturday, October 3rd, the stratus clouds cleared around 16:00, making a few flights possible. There was a light westerly wind. Mirjam managed a 50-minute flight by working the lift along the western cliffs. I flew for 25 minutes at the 5k. A cloud moved in, and the resulting shade killed the thermals, forcing us to head for the landing zones. Andrew and Joffrey likely flew as well, though I didn't see them. Sun is forecast for the coming days.

Dimanche 27 sept, ciel bleu et vent pas trop fort. L'air froid aide les thermiques. Je fais plus de 1:30 et Mirjam aussi. Turbulent par endroit à cause des petits thermiques forts. Un autre parapentiste a décollé juste avant le coucher du soleil.
Sunday, September 27, blue skies and a moderate wind. The cold air helps the thermals. I flew for over an hour and a half, and so did Mirjam. It was turbulent in places due to small, strong thermals. Another paraglider pilot took off just before sunset.

Dimanche 20 sept, ciel bleu et plus de vent sud. Je fais près de deux heures de vol en dessous de l'inversion. Le vent a causé des turbulences et les thermiques étaient petits. Mirjam a tenu 25 minutes. Je n'ai vu que trois autres en vol mais il y aurait aussi Julian, Aidan, Lilianne (merci pour la récup), Michal et Martin.
Sunday, September 20, blue skies and more southerly wind. I flew for nearly two hours below the inversion. The wind caused turbulence, and the thermals were small. Mirjam stayed up for 25 minutes. I only saw three other pilots in the air, though Julian, Aidan, Lilianne (thanks for retrieve), Michal, and Martin were out there too.

Samedi le 19 sept, très semblable à hier. Septembre a souvent une inversion et de l'air stable qui faiblissent les thermiques et les bloquent pas assez haut pour faire distance. Julian et moi ont tenu plus d'une heure. Aidan, Robert et possiblement Tom ont volé aussi.
Saturday, September 19th, very similar to yesterday. September often brings inversions and stable air that weaken thermals and cap them too low for cross-country flying. Julian and I managed to stay up for over an hour. Aidan, Robert, and possibly Tom flew as well.

Vendredi 18 sept, plus de vols et même des distances. Hugo, 35 km, Aidan, 27 km en décollant vers 15:00. Julian, Mirjam et moi en local, plus t**d. Vent plus léger, thermiques sous une inversion assez haute. Aussi, Robert en local. Pas sur au sujet d'Aidan et Ilya.
Friday, Sept. 18, more flights and some distance covered. Hugo flew 35 km and Aidan 27 km, launching around 15:00. Julian, Mirjam, and I flew locally later on. Lighter winds, with thermals beneath a fairly high inversion. Also, Robert in local. Not sure about Aidan and Ilya.
