A big thank you to Meaghan Cosgrove, Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist, for spending time with our team and clients today!

One of the biggest takeaways from her presentation was that pelvic floor issues are often more complex than simply having “weak” muscles. In many cases, muscles that are tight and overworked can contribute to symptoms just as much as muscles that need strengthening.

We learned that bladder leakage may be common, but it isn’t something people should simply accept as normal. Meaghan also discussed concerns such as urinary urgency and frequency, prolapse, pelvic pain, and the importance of addressing the root cause rather than just managing symptoms.

What really resonated with us was her whole-body approach. Pelvic floor health is connected to so much more than one specific area of the body. Movement, breathing, nutrition, stress management, sleep, and exercise all play a role. The body works as a system, and effective treatment means connecting the dots rather than focusing on symptoms in isolation.

Some practical takeaways included:• Move often throughout the day• Stay hydrated• Prioritize relaxation and stress management• Pay attention to breathing during exercise• Exhale during the effort phase of a lift (such as standing up from a squat)• Remember that training during pregnancy is often encouraged and beneficial when done appropriately
