Très beau texte de LeeAnn Eakins, à propos du cassage de briques et des arts martiaux.
Et vous, pourquoi vous entraînez-vous?
🥋
Why do you have to break concrete LeeAnn? Why risk it? (Asked by non martial artists.)
The question really is why do I train in martial arts? Breaking is just a part of that for me.
I train because martial arts rounds me out as a person and helps me feel whole.
It heals me, reveals my own power and my own weaknesses.
It helps me set goals and accomplish them. It teaches respect for self and others, courtesy, integrity, self-control, loyalty, humility, gratitude, empathy, tolerance, perseverance and indomitable spirit.
It teaches me to suck at it for as long as it takes to become good at it.
It helps me reconnect to my body- thinking about and executing every move- developing muscle memory along the way. We all need this reconnection to our bodies, but it is especially helpful for trauma recovery and I value that more than ever.
Martial Arts also provides connection to others through community, teaching others and training together, learning and growing together, failing and succeeding together. It connects me with other strong women and girls who are also trying to live their best lives.
Plus there are a lot of cool T- shirts 😉
Why do you train?
