Pain shouldn’t be a part of your gardening routine - let’s break it down.
Hours of bending, lifting, digging and raking can put extra stress on your spine and joints. Remember these simple tips in mind while working outdoors:
🌼Warm up with a few gentle stretches before you begin your yard work
🌸Lift with your legs, not with your back
🌿Avoid staying in one position for too long - take breaks and change tasks often!
🌱Use kneeling pads and long-handled tools to reduce strain in your back
🌳Break larger projects into smaller sessions - summer is just beginning and it’s better to take longer to get the work done than to hurt yourself trying to do too much.
Remember, pain shouldn’t be a part of your gardening routine. If you’ve overdone it and are dealing with back pain, neck stiffness or sore muscles, manual therapy may help you recover and get back to work.
Take care of your body gardening this summer, so you can enjoy every moment spent outdoors!
