Gabriola Kyokushin Karate A traditional art of self-defence and self improvement with modern training methods. Our classes are currently at capacity with our Covid-19 protocols in place.

Kids and beginners can leave after 1 hour
There is also usually a Friday night “Fighting and Fitness” class for members at the Seawood Dojo from 5pm to about 6.30pm - This class is not currently available
The Gabriola Island Kyokushin Karate Club (Dojo) started informally in 2005 with a couple of island families getting together for fun and exercise. Twice weekly classes are now held at the Community Hall. Students are encouraged to train hard and challenge themselves while having fun. Respect, for self and others, is the underlying philosophy in the club. Gradings for new belt levels are held each spring and fall. There are opportunities to enter tournaments and attend camps. Special classes like beach training, breaking techniques, specialized self defence and tournament fighting are held periodically. We hold a yearly fundraising “kick-a-thon” that everyone is encouraged to participate in. Social activities are held after significant events and occasionally just for fun.
