Highland dance = the extracurricular most parents don’t know exists.

Which means it’s not usually the first option when you’re picking an activity for your kid.

(Cue the question: “Oh… like Riverdance?” ... naur. Riverdance is FAB but it's very different from what we're up to)

But sometimes the “mainstream” activities aren’t always the right fit. This is coming from the girl who tried the maintream things like soccer and gymnastics and managed to be way too shy for BOTH.

Sure, the medals, trophies, achievements and titles are exciting.

But if that’s all you focus on?

You’re missing the part of dance that actually sticks with you, long after your dancing years.

Back to dance season is here🤩

After a couple weeks away from the studio, the Saorsa team is READY to get back in and get dance classes started up for another year. We’ve got an exciting month ahead!

🗓️ Foundations & Competitive programs start up Sept 7 (Teddies ages 3-4, Tots ages 5-6, Bonnies ages 7+, Friends, Thistles, Lassies + ALL competitive levels)

🗓️ 12-week programs start up Sept 14

⭐️ Shanachie Dance Company auditions for the 2026-2027 team happening on Sept 12

Not to be dramatic, but going to dance class can totally transform your whole day 🙌🏻

Before getting into the studio, you might feel:

❌ Overwhelmed
❌ Exhausted
❌ Unmotivated
❌ Like you can’t stop overthinking

But after dance class??? Well, you’re walking outta there like a whole new person 😌

Because at the end of the day,

Investing in a dance education is more than just learning steps and routines. It’s an investment in...

→ Confidence... I was the kiddo who was painfully shy, clinging to my moms leg, and never talking to new people. I now can present in front of crowds, perform in front of thousands, and speak to new people with confidence!

→ Discipline... I always say everyone's best hire is a highland dancer. They know how to work independently let me tell ya!!!

→ Creativity... I have a potential solution to any situation before the situation is fully presented!

→ Physical fitness... I may no longer be in dance classes myself as the studio owner, but physical fitness is a way of life. I loovvee to get moving, and love my group workout classes as an adult!

→ Lifelong friendships... some of my best and closest relationships have come from dance. It's a connection like no other 💞

(I’m probably missing some, but you get my point).

If you think dance education is only about perfecting technique, you’re missing out on so much more.

Yes, it can help you achieve incredible physical skills.

But it also fosters resilience, teaches time management, and provides you with a supportive community.
