Happy and sad for today being my last day of training….for now! We’ve successfully made it to 37 weeks pregnant and now it is time to relax for a moment before the next member of our family joins us. I will be temporarily closed and will return with classes starting 6-8ish weeks after birth. One on one training starts will be announced at a later date. Thank you all for crushing 2025 with me. To all my lovely clients - no slacking while I’m out, because like Santa, I’m always watching 😘

Throwback to a favorite of mine. L was a very long time client and friend of mine. I remember her consultation like it was yesterday. I specialize in weight loss, but I will take on a few other departments here and there, and I’m so happy she was one of them. At her consult I told her in no way, shape or form would her transformation be easy. It’s nothing like weight loss in the sense that you get to look at the scale each week and see progress, especially when you are a very hard gainer like she was. It would take a frustrating amount of time to see gains but she committed and trusted the process. In fact, she weighed 2lbs MORE than her before photo here, BUT her body composition (fat:muscle) had changed so much. She lost 5 inches in her waist, leaned out, and look at that flex! When she started, her posture was terrible, and she couldn’t Squat more than 20 pounds. Now she stands tall, strong and confident AND can Squat 185lbs (waaaay more then her body weight) while being 5’9”.

💥💥 I have availability to accept one new client with open daytime availability starting in January, and a 2nd client with weekday morning availability starting February. Message to apply or head to www.fortsaskfitness.com

E is a perfect example of body composition changes. Weighing 8lbs and 8 inches less, her ratio of muscle to fat has made significant progress! A less fat and more muscle in allll the right places. At first we focused our efforts on increasing muscle and cardio endurance for a triathlon, then shifted our focus to heavy lifting for building muscle mass and posture. The lesson to be learnt from E is that the scale shouldn’t be the key focus of your progress, monitoring your measurements, appearance and lift increases are huge factors!

J came to me in a world of discomfort due to bad posture from her desk job. On top of seeing her physiotherapist J decided she wanted to strengthen her body so she could fix her posture and get rid of the pain, so she came to me. I told her in her 12 session pack to not expect a ton of visual differences in muscle, because we would focus a little more on rehabilitative exercise to improve her posture. This girl well surpassed my expectations. Not only did her posture improved but she became stronger physically and mentally, and dammmnnn check out that flex! 💪

💥 Fort Sask Fitness is accepting 1 new one on one private client starting the last week of November 2024, message to apply! 💥

99% of the time clients come to me with a weight loss goal, instead B came to me in January, determined to make 2024 a year of exponential growth and in that, her goal was to hike Machu Picchu in Peru. 33 weeks later, her clothes are falling off, her muscles are popping through, and next week she heads to Peru an outstanding 52 pounds lighter and with 32 inches less.
Taking a moment to do that math - 52 pounds, 33 weeks - This means B lost on average 1.58 pounds per week. So often clients ask me how much weight they should lose per week and while it is always different for everyone, the most general answer is 1-2% of your body FAT (not body weight) is reasonable. That can very well mean 0.5-2lbs per week, which is a hard realization when all you want is to see the scale drop 5 pounds every week but it’s not, for the most part, realistic. Adjust your expectations, be consistent with your workouts and nutrition, celebrate when clothes fit differently, or activities become easier. Progress may be slow but the bigger picture is so incredibly rewarding. B put in the work, trusted the process and now she’s going to crush that hike. But this isn’t the end, this is just the beginning for her, I’m confident you’ll see her again on my page soon prepping for her next adventure!

“Before training with Danica I felt I had to restrict my diet to see results, no yummy foods, make sure I didn’t eat too much, I was plain scared of food. She completely changed the way I view nutrition and has taught me to have a love for food and how it fuels my body. No foods are bad foods, if you want cake, eat the cake! I have so much nutritional freedom now and can eat what I want, when I want and it works perfectly towards my fitness goals. I also used to weigh myself obsessively, I’m talkin multiple times a day. Now, I have got to the point where I don't care what the scale says and I’m okay if I only weigh once per week.
Danica has changed the way I view working out. I thought I had to be in the gym 5-7 days a week, plus do 30-60min cardio per day on top of those weight lifting work outs. I train one on one at Fort Sask Fitness 2x/week and I do one provided home workout day a week. I do little to no cardio!!! I love the way I feel and the progress I see in the pictures. Danica has changed my entire mindset on work outs, nutrition and what it truly means to be healthy. She’s so knowledgeable, positive and motivating. I love and look forward to every single session and can’t wait to continue my progress!”
