The Original NEBC & Yukon District Trackers Hockey Page The Trackers were officially formed in 2004 to participate in the newly formed BC Major Midget league. The Trackers remain in the NAHL to this day.

This is the Original page (Est. 2010) “Tracking” your Regional NEBC & Yukon District U18 T1 - AAA Hockey Team based out of North East B.C formed with players from NEBC and the Yukon to play within the NAHL Hockey League. The Trackers encountered resistance into the BCMML so they entered into Alberta's AAA Rocky Mountian Hockey League (RMHL). In 2010, the RMHL folded with some of the team

s entering into a newly formed Alberta provincial AAA league. The remaining RMHL teams with new ones then formed into the Northern Alberta Midget Hockey League (NAMHL noe known as the NAHL) which is now a Major AA league. The program has overcome challenges by district associations to be disbanded or be overtaken and continues to provide local players an opportunity to stay in region and play high caliber hockey.

Our Story

The NEBC (AKA The Peace River District of BC Hockey) & Yukon District Trackers were first formed as the NEBC & Yukon District Trackers Flyers in 2004 to participate in the newly formed BC MML league, but received resistance as BCMML teams refused to travel that far north and BC Hockey was not prepared to make the BC MML teams travel. Consequently, the Trackers joined the Alberta Rocky Mountain AAA Midget Hockey League.

In 2009, the Rocky Mountain League folded into the Alberta Midget Hockey League (The Alberta Provincial Major Midget League) with some teams moving into the AAA league while others formed into a newly established Major AA League called the Northern Alberta Midget Hockey League (NAMHL) and as a result, the Tracker Flyers joined the NAMHL in 2010. In 2011, the Tracker Flyers won the NAMHL championship.

In 2012, the Tracker Flyers program almost closed its doors due to volunteer burnout and District politics. However, as a result of some considerable effort by a few individuals the Tracker Flyers were resurrected with a new team logo and team colors (the current one today) and adopted the name of “NEBC & Yukon District Trackers” dropping the Fort St. John Minor Hockey “Flyers” tag so the team would better reflect its NEBC & Yukon District entity as the team was a intended to be a regional team and not be a representative of just one minor hockey association. New team colours/jerseys were selected and a new logo was designed. The “Rig and Wheat” logo was designed and selected to better reflect NEBC Region’s diversity from north to south. The name “Trackers” stemmed from a long time major sponsor of the team; Tracker Contracting. The “NEBC & Yukon District” title remained as any player from BC Hockey’s NEBC and Yukon District remained eligible to tryout and play on the team. The Trackers then re-shifted their focus to ensure the team participated at the highest level possible within BC when participating in BC Hockey Sanctioned tournaments.

In 2015, after great effort and support by the NEBC District, the Trackers were granted permission to compete in the BC Hockey Midget Tier 1 Provincial Championships for the first time. The Trackers ended their inaugural Provincial Championship play with a .500 record that year.
