June is Pride Month. It’s also Men’s Mental Health Month.

Those might seem like two completely different conversations, but after a decade of coaching, I don’t think they are.

At the core of both is something every human being needs: acceptance, connection, and a sense of belonging.

People are lonely right now. Men are struggling. LGBTQ+ individuals are struggling. Mental health challenges don’t care who you love, what you look like, or where you come from.

One of the coolest things I’ve witnessed through CrossFit isn’t weight loss, PRs, or physical transformations. It’s watching people find their people.

I’ve seen men who felt completely isolated build friendships that extend far beyond the gym walls. I’ve seen people walk in carrying anxiety, depression, grief, addiction, and years of self-doubt and slowly start to believe in themselves again. I’ve seen athletes from the LGBTQ+ community find spaces where they can simply show up as themselves and be welcomed.

No, a workout isn’t therapy. A barbell won’t cure depression. But movement helps. Community helps. Feeling like someone would notice if you didn’t show up helps.

Sometimes the hour you spend in the gym isn’t the most important part of your day because of the fitness. Sometimes it’s the most important part because it’s the one place you know you’ll be encouraged, challenged, supported, and seen.

That’s powerful.

This month, let’s celebrate the people who have the courage to be themselves, the people who ask for help when they need it, and the communities that remind us we’re not meant to do life alone.

Everyone deserves a place where they belong.

At the very least let’s try not being as****es 💅🏼🎉

Why have Candace and I been so open about using GLP-1s?

Because nobody should be afraid to walk into a gym because they’re using a weight loss aid.

Because people deserve support, not judgment.

And because if you’re a trainer shaming people for using a tool that helps them lose weight, improve their health, and take control of their lives, you suck.

What bothers me most is the superiority complex.

If you’ve managed your weight your entire life without medication, good for you.

That doesn’t make you better than someone who needed help.

If you’ve never struggled with obesity, food noise, insulin resistance, or losing the same 50 pounds over and over again, congratulations.

That doesn’t make you morally superior to the people who have.

Nobody gets a medal for suffering more.
Nobody gets extra points for doing it the hard way.

And let’s talk about the hypocrisy.

Some of the loudest voices attacking GLP-1 users are the same people who have no problem promoting steroids, anabolics, TRT, fat burners, growth hormone, or whatever other pharmaceutical shortcut benefits their goals.

Apparently using drugs to get leaner, stronger, faster, or more muscular is fine.

But using medication to treat obesity and improve your health is where they draw the line?

Give me a fu***ng break.

GLP-1s aren’t magic. They don’t build muscle. They don’t make you choose protein. They don’t make you train.

They help some people manage a disease they’ve been battling for years.

They’re a tool.

And if someone uses that tool to become healthier, live longer, move better, and feel more confident, why the hell would we shame that?

Our job as coaches should be helping people succeed.

Not gatekeeping health because their path looked different than ours.

I’ve gone back and forth on whether or not to share this because everyone seems to have an opinion on GLP medications.

A couple of years ago, I tried Ozempic. The weight came off fast, but honestly, I felt like s**t. I was nauseous all the time, struggled to eat enough protein, my workouts sucked, and I lost strength and muscle along with the weight. It got things moving, but it wasn’t the right fit for me.

After that, I got off it and just kept doing the work. Meal prep. Tracking my food. Prioritizing protein. Training hard. Being consistent even when I didn’t feel like it.

That’s how I’ve lost over 70 pounds in the last two years.

Then I hit a wall. For three months, my weight didn’t move. Not even a little. At the same time, the food noise started creeping back in. If you’ve never dealt with food noise, it’s hard to explain, but it’s exhausting. It’s always there in the background.

Four weeks ago, I started a GLP-2.

I’m down another 10.2 pounds since starting it, but the weight loss isn’t even the biggest thing I’ve noticed.

I’m still strong. I’m still training well. I’m still maintaining muscle. My endurance is better. And for the first time in a long time, my brain is quiet around food.

What hasn’t changed is the work.

I still track my macros every day. I still meal prep. I still hit my protein. I still train. I still make the same choices I’ve been making for the last two years.

The medication doesn’t do those things for me.

What it does do is make it feel like I’m no longer fighting my own brain every second of the day.

People love to call these medications the easy way out.

I don’t know many people who would call losing 70+ pounds, tracking your food for years, and showing up to train day after day the easy way out.

The medication is a tool.

The work is still mine and I still probably lift heavier than you and your dad both 💅🏼

When I told you we had members and coaches utilizing GLP-1 and GLP-2 medications along with nutrition and movement, I meant it

Here’s Coach Candace’s experience, mine is coming next….

GLP-1, the miracle skinny jab that takes all the work out of losing weight!

Or not. If this s**t was working miracles, I’d have an ass like Dani Speegle and delts like Dana Linn Bailey. But alas, here I am… looking like myself, just 50 pounds lighter.

I’ve struggled with my weight for most of my life, but when I was young it certainly was easier to deal with. As a single mom in my mid 30’s, it’s not so easy.

The juggling act of running a household, parenting, maintaining a career and somehow being hot, fit and friendly starts to feel impossible. Somethings gotta give.

And like most women, I let my physical health go first. I finally decided to try Ozempic when I realized I was starting to hate myself.

Not just how I looked, but how “weak” and “lazy” I was for not being able to keep myself on a diet. I thought I had some moral failing because I was fat.

I’m still fat, to be fair. But I am LESS fat all the time.

Ozempic has been a life raft in the sea of modern responsibilities and expectations.

I’m not a scientist so I won’t pretend to be – all I know is that the binge, guilt, restrict, binge cycle has been broken.

My quality of life has improved; I like myself again and I’m even more motivated in the gym.

You must do the work in the kitchen and the gym, but you don’t have to do it alone.

Hello friends and clients,

Over the next few weeks, all personal training sessions will begin being tracked through Wodify.

As our personal training program continues to grow, it has become increasingly important to have a consistent and transparent system for tracking prepaid sessions. Moving forward, all session balances will be monitored through Wodify to ensure accuracy for both clients and trainers.

Unless otherwise arranged, personal training sessions will be purchased in packages of four or more sessions and must be prepaid. Once all prepaid sessions have been used, clients will be contacted to arrange their next package.

Please note that all prepaid personal training sessions will expire six months from the date of purchase.

We would also like to remind clients that while our trainers strive to be flexible and accommodate schedule changes whenever possible, late cancellations and frequent rescheduling can significantly impact their schedules and limit availability for other clients.

As a general policy, we ask that at least 12 hours’ notice be provided for cancellations or rescheduling requests. We understand that unexpected circumstances arise, and exceptions will be considered when appropriate.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support. These changes are being implemented to create a more consistent and professional experience for both our clients and our coa

Think CrossFit is too intense for you?

You’re exactly who this class is for.

One of the biggest things we hear in Fort St. John is:

“I’d love to get in shape, but CrossFit looks way too fast-paced.”

Fair enough.

The truth is, fitness doesn’t have to start with barbells flying overhead and 100 burpees for time.

Starting July 7, we’re introducing LITE Fit.

A small group class designed for people who want to get stronger, move better, improve their fitness, and build confidence without feeling like they’re being thrown into the deep end.

Tuesdays & Thursdays
10:30 AM

What you can expect:
• More foundational movements
• More strength and stability work
• More balance, mobility, and functional fitness
• Less Olympic lifting
• Less high-intensity conditioning
• Less feeling like you need to “keep up”

What you won’t find:
• Pressure
• Intimidation
• Having to be fit before you start

Just coaching, movement, and a chance to feel better than you do today.

$125/month

To keep coaching quality high, this class is limited to 10 participants.

A $50 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your spot.

If you’ve been waiting for the right time to start, this is it.

Text only: 778-256-7413 to register.

Taking a break because you’re burnt out is okay.

Taking a break because you’re looking for an escape from hard work is something completely different.

If you’ve been training hard, managing a lot, your recovery is suffering, and you’re running on fumes, take the break. Rest. Recover. Come back ready to go.

But if you’ve convinced yourself you need a break because you’re bored, frustrated, unmotivated, or progress isn’t happening as fast as you’d like, that’s probably not burnout. That’s the uncomfortable part of the process.

Too many people quit when what they actually need to do is keep going.

The hard part is being honest enough to know the difference.

A break should help you move forward.

If it’s helping you avoid moving forward, it’s probably not a break.
