Northern Rockies Regional Recreation The Recreation Department, located in the new Northern Rockies Regional Recreation Centre, boasts a Posts deemed inappropriate will be removed.

The multi-use Recreation Centre is home to 2 ice arenas with 10 full-sized change rooms, a beautiful Community Hall/Stage with a full kitchen, a Meeting Room, a Curling Rink & Lounge and a full concession. It is home to many programs and events in the community such as hockey, figure skating, dance, gymnastics, fitness, yoga and numerous holiday events such as Spookerama and Christmas at the Rec C

entre. The Aquatic Centre includes a 25-meter swimming pool equipped with a diving board, two slides, whirlpool and sauna. General swims, swimming lessons, water sports, special events, rentals, birthday parties and training. Art Fraser Memorial Park is Fort Nelson's most popular park destination for residents and visitors alike. It is the perfect place to spend the day with family as it includes numerous amenities such as ball diamonds, picnic tables, firepits, sitting benches, gazebo, and washroom facilities. In addition, the new Rotary Water Spray Park and the recently added tennis and volleyball courts are sure to be a hit with the entire family! A variety of parks, playgrounds and playing fields are found throughout town and boast amenities such as baseball diamonds, soccer fields, playground equipment, picnic tables and BBQ pits. The Community Trail boasts a wide variety of recreational opportunities such as walking, jogging, bicycling, roller-blading, bird watching, wildlife viewing and nature interpretation. The Demonstration Forest comprises 400 hectares in an area called the Fort Nelson Lowlands. Hike, bike, cross country ski, or take a walk through this example of a unique ecosystem. Various length trails, educational signs, wildflowers and bird watching opportunities, make this a great place for a stroll. Andy Bailey Regional Campground is a quiet forest oasis is located just off Mile 265 of the Alaska Highway down a 12 km gravel access road. Amenities of this local gem includes 12 unserviced campsites and 8 tent sites by the beach (not suitable for large RVs and trailers), day use area, and a non-motorized boat launch. It is great place to stop for a picnic or a quick fishing adventure. Recreation and adventure opportunities are abundant at the Tetsa River Campground Regional Park, a 25 site unserviced campground. Located off of Mile 358 of the Alaska Highway, this campsite boasts great fishing, spectacular scenery and is close to several hiking trails.
