On September 7, 2024. Thirteen brave individuals headed out to hunt early season Canada geese with the 613 team alongside highway 401 in Ingleside Ontario. After several birds in hand and late morning, we were deciphering on calling it an end to our day. One last look around for geese gave us the attention of a white F-150 parked at our vehicles, which quickly decided our fate. This conservation officer watched and kindly waited as we worked our last flocks into the spread before flagging him over to us once the sky was clear. As 13 guns and licenses passed inspection, this avid group of waterfowlers also had certain regulation questions for the officer in order to have a safe and effective season, and were well answered. Near end of our conversation, we heard a lone honk coming south across the highway. This was hopefully the first and last time I ever yell at a game warden to get inside the blind. He kneeled down beside and watched us work this single goose into 20 yards. An unreal experience for all these hunters to witness from start to finish, along with the great amount of respect the warden showed that day. Actions spoke louder than words.
