We are thrilled to announce the annual presentation of the Thomas Dunn Spirit Award at this year’s event. Thomas, a founding member of the original Wam Bam, left an incredible mark on our community.

Wam Bam was inspired by a contest in Creston called Goat Style. They had a jam session on the Friday night of the event under some big flood lights. It was a super unique and cool thing that the riders and spectators loved. The year wambam started, Goat Style was canceled. Thomas saw an opportunity to use our facilities to start a grassroots dirt jump event - something that didn't really exist - and is still hard to come by in Canada.

He really loved the idea of having it be a jam style event, where everyone no matter age & abilities could participate. He made sure everyone who entered in those early days won a bit of cash or some sort of prize. Creating an inclusive & inspiring environment for the kids was really important to him.

He was always a huge advocate for building jumps and letting "the kids send it" and wambam was one of the ways he manifested that. He also loved watching a good bike event, from world cups, to every crankworx. So he wanted to make sure his event was engaging for the spectators and community.
