The world needs more pickleball or, most specifically, the City of Fernie needs more pickleball courts. Or, more recreation space in general. Now is the time to let the city know where pickleball fits on the map. The City of Fernie is currently revising its Official Community Plan, and it wants your input. You can fill out the Official Community Plan workbook online and let the city know your thoughts on more pickleball. Check the link below.

The outdoor courts are open. There were a few stalwarts out this morning for the first outdoor session of the season. It was cool, but not cold ... perfect pickleball weather. Remember, we have made changes to the outdoor play at Max Turyk this season. We have reserved the courts for Pickleball Fernie use from 8 a.m. to noon Monday to Friday. Booking is done through CourtReserve (same as indoor) but it's a bargain at half the price ... literally. It will cost $2 for a two-hour session. This basically covers our costs.

Drop-ins will be welcome as long as the courts aren't booked by Pickleball Fernie members. There will be a QR code posted at the courts and on our website. Drop-ins can scan the QR code on their phone and pay to use the courts ($5 for a drop-in). Once again, this is provided there is room. If the session is full, Court Reserve won't let them book that court.

The sessions are up on Court Reserve right now, so book your time and get out and enjoy the outdoor season.
