Honouring Roger Redwin
The Falcon Sailing Club is deeply saddened by the loss of Roger Redwin, who passed away on January 30. Roger was a longtime member whose presence helped shape the very heart of our community. Roger was a keen Laser sailor, always ready to rig up, head out, and enjoy the simple joy of wind and water. For decades, Roger shared his remarkable skills with the club—building structures, repairing boats, and quietly stepping in wherever help was needed. His craftsmanship was matched by his generosity, and so much of what we rely on today carries his touch. His enthusiasm for the sport was infectious, inspiring many to discover the thrill of sailing for themselves.

He was a leader in Mobility/Para Sailing, where his steady guidance, patience, and belief in accessible sailing opened the door for many to experience life on the water. Roger shared his love of sailing with those dearest to him, and his good humour and warmth made every day at the club brighter. We are proud to share that Roger had been nominated for the 2025 Sail Manitoba Honourary Member Award, a recognition that reflects the profound impact he had on our sailing community.

Roger’s legacy lives on in the boats he repaired, the sailors he supported, the races he loved, and the spirit of kindness and camaraderie he brought to the dock. He will be deeply missed and long remembered.

⛵ Great News for Falcon Sailing Club!

We’re excited to share that Sport Manitoba has approved our application to the National Sport Training Fund (NSTF). This means members, friends of the Club, and local business supporters can now donate toward the purchase of two additional 420s — and receive a tax receipt for their contribution.

Sport MB administers the program and issues tax receipts, retaining 5% of all donations.

We’re hoping you’ll consider making a contribution before December 31, 2025, so we can move quickly in the New Year.

Labour Day Monday on the Water ⛵️
A beautiful day of sailing at Falcon Sailing Club to wrap up the long weekend! Nine boats were out enjoying the southwest winds. Most raced all three races and two others took in the breeze with a relaxed sail.

Spectators gathered on shore to cheer on the fleet and soak up the sunshine, adding to the festive atmosphere. Great to see so many members—on the water and off—making the most of the day!

Thanks to all who made it such a fun and lively event. If the weather holds, we’re hoping for more sailing this month—fingers crossed!

🌬️⛵ That’s a wrap on SWSSL Sundays!
South Whiteshell Women’s Sailing League is calling it a season a little earlier than planned—Mother Nature had other ideas with those cool temps and high winds.

Thanks to all the amazing women who made this summer unforgettable on the water. We’re already dreaming of next season’s sunshine and smooth sailing! ☀️💙
