Blood and Iron Martial Arts Victoria

Blood and Iron Martial Arts Victoria Canada's premier school of Historical European Martial Arts has come to Victoria! Regular classes include instruction as well as sparring.

A Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) school focused on the Germanic longsword tradition, as well as singlestick, dussack, dagger, and more. Students learn Western Martial Arts with a focus on fighting techniques and training to improve weapon skill and knowledge. We encourage newcomers to come out and try a free class.

Sad news for us at Blood and Iron Victoria.

As of January we will be closing our Victoria location.
This year has been very difficult, enduring multiple lengthy Covid 19 government shut downs for sports/martial arts. This has hampered our ability to continue our club at the capacity we once were able to.
We want to thank everyone who supported us, trained with us, and traveled around the world to compete with us. We cannot thank you enough for the great memories.

A big shout out to the Victoria Highland Games for all the support and the platform in making our tournament Vhg open a yearly event.

We hope to eventually get back to in person training as a small club in Victoria at some point once its safe and restrictions are eased.

For everything Blood and Iron, you can check out our YouTube page, check out our Vancouver location (once restrictions lift), or check out our online program.

Stay safe, and keep those swords shiny!

Even though we are unable to train in groups right now, there is plenty to train solo!
This video goes through footwork. Footwork is something that always needs working on, from begginer to advanced fighters alike.
Enjoy!

Unfortunately due to the new restrictions in BC, all indoor fitness/martial arts had to close temporarily until new regulations are released. Hopefully we will be up and running soon with new protocol.

Hope you all are staying healthy and safe in these difficult times!

A quick update regarding classes

We have finally gotten back to in person classes, and are on a reduced schedule and space restructure due to Covid-19 and current work safe bc regulations.
We are working on safely implementing our adult program with graduated class hours and student numbers. Because of space restrictions we are only able to accommodate 10 students training between 2 floors per class, and all classes are through sign up only. Classes remain socially distanced, and sparring is done in a well ventilated area with no grappling or close contact.

Until we can ease restrictions, we are putting our in person youth class, new students and our intro lessons on hold.

We are also offering an online program through zoom with head instructor Lee Smith so that people are not missing out on training.

Currently, our greatest concern is safety and while we all miss the way we used to train, safety and wellness comes first.

Thank you for your patience during this difficult time and transition into a new era.

7 years ago today Blood and Iron Victoria had its very first class.

We started with our head instructor Erik Bailey coming to the island from Vancouver once a week to teach a class in a park. A year later, he moved over to the island and started running classes fulltime in our own space.

In 7 years we have raised some amazing students and instructors, trained for and fought hard in many tournaments, and made some pretty amazing friends. Even through the ups and downs and learning experiences, we still had fun.

We forged a great relationship with the Victoria Highland Games, and started running full-fledged tournaments at their event. We have supported local festivals and events, and are so grateful for every opportunity in our community.

We have come far, and are so proud! We couldn't have done it without the help and support of our sister club Blood and Iron Martial Arts in Burnaby, and all of our fantastic students, instructors, friends, and supporters.

A special thanks to Lee and Nicole Smith for supporting us along the way.

Happy birthday to us! Its been a wild ride!
