Pond season is upon us.... How sharp are your skates for the next time you step on the arena ice?

The colder it gets the harder the ice is outside. Arena ice is regulated so the ice is the same hardness. Any time the outdoors gets below -10 the ice hardens. This will dull your skates much quicker. So although you feel like you have a sharp edge as you step off the pond. The moment you step on the ice in an arena your edges will not be as sharp. Because of the constant up and down in temperatures. Pond ice generally in not as good as arena ice. It will break and cut through more compared to arena ice. So even dull skates can feel sharp.
Make sure if you or your kids spend time on the pond, before their next skate on arena ice you get your skates touched up...

Don't have the time to get sharpenings? An extra set of blades can help... Most skates made in the last 10 years have quick change blades. Now you can have a set for the pond and a set for the arena.

If you refer a person to me and they buy a sharpening card anytime up to March 31 2026. I will give you a $20 credit to put towards anything I sell. That could be 10 sharpenings for $20. ($2.00 per sharpening).

Pond season is in full effect.
Did you know?
Outdoor ice is generally harder than arena ice. This causes the edge of your blade to dull much quicker. Even if your skate only touches skate guard and ice your blades edge is only sharp for up to 3 hours of ice. this is at a 3/8's cut. So if you sharpen your skates at 1/2" or higher your sharpness length is lower.

Skating is hard enough to learn. Now imagine trying to learn with a dull edge. Many kids get frustrated with skating because they can't grip the ice due to a dull edge or a bad sharpening. Why risk a person that doesn't know what they are doing for $10, $12 or even $15 a sharpening?
I guarantee my sharpenings are perfect every time. And I charge just $5. Or if you buy a card for $40 you get 10 sharpenings. $4 per pair of skates.
