Happy Thanksgiving from all of us here at Riverwood Ranch! šš¦
All I can say is that I am truly, truly thankful.
What a wild week it has been! Life sure has a way of reminding you what really matters. After Dad was involved in a pretty serious accident that left him with a dislocated hip and far too many broken ribs, I am beyond thankful that he is okay and on the road to recovery. ā¤ļø
In the middle of all the chaos, we were lucky enough to have two of my favourite past apprentices return to help with roundup! Our Swedish posse, Rebecka and Ellin! We also had an overwhelming amount of help from Eva, Clint, Richard, Logan, Gilbert, Lindsey, and so many wonderful neighbours, friends, and family members who stepped up when we needed them most. I donāt think I could ever properly express how grateful I am for this crew.
Somehow, amongst all the craziness, we managed to enjoy two incredible Thanksgiving suppers surrounded by some of the people I love most.
And in true ranching fashion, Thanksgiving didnāt exactly end after supper! Here we are, riding until 11 PM, saving a bloated calf, and celebrating a three-year-old horseās first canter. You really canāt make this stuff up!
So as I stand in the barn at 11 PM, taking a very late Happy Thanksgiving photo, exhausted and probably looking a little worse for wear, I canāt help but smile.
Because at the end of the day, I have so much to be thankful for.
Thankful for Dadās recovery. Thankful for old friends coming back together. Thankful for the incredible people who show up when life gets tough. Thankful for the patience and understanding of our Riverwood family as we navigate this crazy month. And thankful for this wild, unpredictable, exhausting, beautiful ranching life that I wouldnāt trade for anything.
Sometimes the weeks that test you the most are the ones that remind you just how blessed you really are.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone. From our crazy little corner of the world to yours. ā¤ļø
