Children seem to know something that many adults forget.

They ask endless questions. They challenge us. They wonder about everything. They aren't afraid to say, "Why?" or "I don't understand." They're curious by nature.

Until, slowly, life teaches them to stop asking and start pretending they know.

There is a quote commonly attributed to Socrates:

"I know that I know nothing."

There is an important lesson here: the willingness to remain open. To question. To be proven wrong. To stay curious enough to keep searching for what is true.

Because the moment we show up convinced that we already know, we close ourselves off to other perspectives. We stop listening. We stop learning.

There's something deeply humbling about admitting that you might be wrong. And yet it is liberating. You no longer need to prove yourself. You no longer need to win every argument or defend every opinion. You can simply seek understanding.

And even when you're on the right path, curiosity allows you to expand the web of your understanding. New ideas don't always contradict what you know; often, they enrich it.

Maybe wisdom isn't having all the answers.

Maybe wisdom is keeping the curiosity of a child while having the humility to say,

"I don't know… but I'd like to understand."

We become what we repeatedly do.

We’re creatures of habit — we all understand that.

What many of us ignore, however, is that our habits don’t just shape what we do.
They shape who we become.

They shape our identity.

Imagine consistently showing up to train jiu jitsu twice a week for the next five years.

You probably have some idea of where that could lead.
Stronger. Healthier. More skilled.

But the the biggest shifts happen on the inside.

Every time you show up, you reinforce something deeper:
that you keep your word to yourself.

That matters.

Over time, you become more competent.

And competence turns into confidence.
Not confidence you try to project — confidence quietly built through experience.

You also begin to understand something important:
growth rarely comes from huge breakthroughs.

It comes from repetition.
Patience.
And continuing to show up when things feel slow.

And once you truly experience that process, something changes.

You realize that if you can learn this then maybe you can learn other hard things too.

Then there’s the community.

People learning, struggling, improving, failing, growing.
Sharpening each other along the way.

And somewhere in that process, you become more resilient.
More resourceful.
More growth-minded.

Not because of one big moment.

But because you kept showing up twice a week.

A huge congratulations to our newly promoted students. 👊👊

Promotions are never just about techniques or belts, they’re a reflection of consistency, perseverance, growth, and the willingness to keep showing up, even on the hard days.

First we commit to showing up, in body and in mind, then the rest falls i to place.

A warm applause to all the moms who took part in our TRAIN WITH MOM DAY! 👏

It was awesome seeing so many of you step onto the mats, share the experience with your kids, and try something new together.

Careful… Jiu-Jitsu has a way of sneaking up on you — and before you know it, you might just get addicted. 😄

Another milestone from this weekend.

Chelsea Malo.

She's been on at the dojo since she's 3 years old… and in a couple of weeks, she’ll be turning 17.

She grew up on these mats.
She stayed when it got hard.
She stayed when it got quiet.

Through all those years, she chose to keep going.
And it showed this weekend.

Her nidan exam was outstanding.

But what makes this milestone even more meaningful is who she’s become along the way.

She’s not only grown into a strong martial artist—she’s become a leader.

Someone the kids look up to.
Someone parents trust.
Someone who sets the tone on the mats without needing to say much.

She leads with patience and care—and helps create an environment where students can grow with confidence.

Proud of you, Chelsea.

This weekend was a big one at the dojo.

Some start young.
Some are built while juggling everything life throws at you.

This is one of those.

Marc-Antoine Landry.

At 49, he continues to show what commitment really looks like.

Juggling life, responsibilities—and still choosing to show up for himself and for the dojo.

That’s not easy. And that’s what makes it meaningful.

He trains.
He teaches.
He helps.

Always with humility. Always with consistency.

Over the years, he’s become someone others can rely on—steady, present, and willing to give back.

This weekend, he earned his Nidan — and his exam was outstanding.

But this milestone isn’t just about rank.

It’s about the discipline behind it.
The example he sets.
And the way he continues to move forward, no matter what life demands.

Proud of you, Sensei Marc-Antoine.

Well earned.

Congratulations to the following on their black belt promotions:

Ella Courty
Khloe Snooke
Lexime St-Pierre
Ethan Greer
Chelsea Malo
Marc-Antoine Landry

I’ve watched the ups, the struggles, the growth — and through it all, one thing never changed:

They kept showing up.

That’s what this represents.

Not talent. Not shortcuts.
Consistency. Resilience. Commitment.

Proud of all of you.

This is earned. Well done!
