Elora Karate Dojo is owned and operated by Sensei Barb Lamble, a 5th degree black belt affiliated with Canadian Naha-te Goju Karate. She began training in 1998 when her fiancé, Mike Robertson, asked her to join his first karate class in Elmira. Karate training helped develop her physical fitness and mental focus, so decided to pursue her training to the black belt level, which she received in 2003
. She has had the privilege of receiving personal instruction from Hanshi J Purdy, founder of Gorge Karate Dojo and Head Instructor of Canadian Naha-te Goju Karate. Sensei Barb was asked to take over leadership of CNGK's Elora karate programs in Elora 2012. Sensei Barb's experience teaching musical theory and piano to young children inspired her to develop a specialized Kinder Karate program for young children. She is a regular teacher of LiveFit programs for high school physical education and offers Women's Self Defence instruction to local community groups. Sensei Barb has a creative and flexible approach to students of all ages.
