🏃‍♀️ It’s parkrun eve!

🤝 So, join us tomorrow morning for another parkrun. We meet at 8.45am at the Sheriff Creek Wildlife Sanctuary for a 9am start.

🚶🏻‍♂️🏃🏽‍♀️ Walk or run 5 km along the trail.

✅ Don't forget to bring your barcode.

☝️If it's your first time joining us, please register for free at parkrun.ca (you only need to do it once) and select Sheriff Creek Wildlife Sanctuary parkrun as your home parkrun.

🚗 If you're driving head toward Sheriff Creek Wildlife Sanctuary (off Hwy 108 on Milliken Mine Road). Follow the signs, the trail, or the cheerful volunteers.

parkrun is a free, community event where you can walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate. parkrun is 5k and takes place every Saturday morning.

Another wonderful crew came out for event #69, including Mika and Johnna from Sudbury who drove up in the morning to test out our hilly scenic course 🌲

parkrun will be cancelled this morning (Saturday July 18th) due to poor air quality in the area.

The AQI is currently in the Unhealthy range at about 166. Outdoor exercise should be limited as it can pose health problems to everyone.

Hopefully we will be back next week if the air quality improves.

We are keeping an eye on the Air Quality Index for tomorrow's parkrun as Elliot Lake is currently in a yellow warning.

We will check tomorrow at 7am. If the AQI (Air Quality Index) is at or above 150 we will be canceling parkrun for the day. Please check back tomorrow for updates.

🥵 Event #68, another Saturday in the park complete, and boy was it hot! We had seven sweaty finishers.

🏅 Congrats to Jeff, Matt, Eric, Dawn, Jennifer, Tim & Marie for participating despite the heat and deer-flies! And welcome Matt as an official first timer this morning - he brought his own cheering squad with him!

💕 Today, we bid a fond farewell to Jennifer. Jennifer has been attending our parkrun for two years and today was her last run with us. We wish her well as she moves a little closer to family and grandchildren. Jennifer, thank you for being part of our parkrun family 💕

👏 Another milestone to celebrate today - shoutout to Marie Andree for completing 25 volunteer parkruns! Thank you Marie Andree for your dedication. Without your help, this event could not be possible.

🐶 Mira, our only barkrunner today, finished third with her dad, wearing a fur coat all the way. She was warm, but happy!

🙏 Thanks to this week’s Run Director Nancy for the bells, whistles, pats on the back and bug spray.

🏅Event #67 & our third anniversary (yea us) is in the books! There was just enough wind to keep the bugs at bay.

🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️Thank you to everyone who came out, we had five finishers - Erik, Jennifer, Dawn, Tim & Marie Andrée - with lots of great conversation at the finish line.

🐶 One of our favourite Barkrunners - Mira - made an appearance with her people.

🙏 As ever, this couldn’t happen without our volunteers… our trusty Tail Walker & Sign Gatherer Marie Andree and our faithful Run Director, Timer, Scanner & Cheerleader Nancy…. whew, Nancy’s tired, if you want to come out, she would love some extra volunteers!

🇨🇦 Happy Canada Day everyone! It was hot on the trail today and the horseflies kept us moving!

🥵 Congrats to all our participants who braved the heat!

🙏 Special thanks to Erin for bringing treats from Tim Horton’s, and our volunteer Tail Walker Marie Andree & Run Director Nancy who tripled as timer, scanner, and ultimate cheerleader.
