Garden Joys Year 1 at our new slice of heaven.

All these marigolds, nasturtiums and poppies are from seed. The baskets are starting to look incredible despite the colour combinations being off due to a tray mislabel I grabbed from the greenhouse but the hummingbirds love them so who cares!!
The garden is starting to come alive and today we are seeing some much needed rain after a week of extreme heat!

So thankful for this little patch of dirt, and the best news is- Spence already suggested an expansion 🤣

Hi Friends!
Farm stand is open today, sorry for the hiatus it’s been a wild week and we actually had some rain so the stand was closed to keep the inside from being a mess. The stand will be closed Sunday-Wednesday for sure this week because I am travelling for work and Spence is too busy starting the build.
Have a great weekend!

Hi Friends,
We are going to politely ask that people stop tagging us in posts of dogs to adopt, sending us dogs that are looking for new homes, and asking if he came home etc. If he did come home believe me we would post it.
We know this comes from a place of caring and the support you all have shown has been second to none and we could not be MORE grateful, but as previously iterated we are not looking to replace Dakota. We always hold hope he will one day be returned to us but grasp the reality that he has been gone for over 2 years and the very real circumstances are that the chances of that happening are about 1 in 1 million. So please understand that your messages often bring up a lot of unresolved hurt surrounding his disappearance and that wound on our hearts is very raw and probably always will be.
We have senior dogs that were Dakota’s family as well when he disappeared who are beginning to really show their age and have zero intentions of upsetting their comfort to add to our family at this time.
Thank you for your understanding and respect on this matter.
Jamie & Spence

Politics aside, Happy Canada friends!
From Coast to Coast the backbone of what built this country were gritty people with a sense of entrepreneurship, an understanding of hardwork and a fire in their bellies for the pursuit of a better life.
We believe in carrying on that Canadian tradition. 🇨🇦🍁

I ask you friend, where is the award for burn out? Who are we trying to impress, truly. We were not designed to run at the calliper we put out. Work, school, farming, household work, the accounting, the kids, the appointments, the sports, the committees, the family and social gatherings, the never ending brain trash talk about how imperfect our lived in homes look when someone pops in and this ‘need to be able to lick the baseboards’ mentality somehow that has taken over so many of us.
If there is one piece of advice I can give you it is this; the list never ends because we always add to it. What is the point in all the hard work if we never enjoy it. Sometimes our health knocks us on our ass, sometimes it’s the weather… so maybe before we hit the wall we could just do ourselves a tiny service and go stand in the rain with a coffee for a few minutes and enjoy the fruits of our labour no matter how many bikes are in the driveway, weeds are in the garden or phones are ringing in the background. We all just need a damn minute- ok?
So here is you permission to go have a real “coffee break”

Peep what’s new! Back to chicken season! This year is a complete reset for us, last year we processed 300 broilers and 50 turkeys. This year post move we are down a significant amount of chickens as we rebuild life literally from the ground up without an ounce of suitable infrastructure here it’s going to take some time to get back to where we were. So here we go again putting 1 foot in front of the other- building! Stay tuned for some pretty exciting stuff coming soon 🔜 I’ll give you a hint… drawings, permits and service locates are in place.
