I dont often post pics of my own catches - and when I do its usually the small ones! Haha!

Today is World Mental Health Day. This weekend is also Thanksgiving here in Canada.

I know from experience how debilitating issues with mental health can be. Sometimes even simple tasks feel heavy. A video by Admiral William H. McRaven once stuck with me — make your bed each morning.

That small act starts the day with an accomplishment. No matter how the rest of the day unfolds, you finish where you began — with something done right, and a made bed to get into. If you have someone in your life suffering from mental health issues - reach out to them and connect this weekend.

As I said, it's Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada, and I have a lot to be thankful for. During COVID, I rediscovered cooking — not just as a chore, but as something to enjoy. So this weekend, I’ll be putting on some music, opening a bottle of wine, and cooking up a storm with my family.

The little things in life are often the most meaningful. Like this small Pike I caught — far from the biggest catch I have ever made, but it made my day!

To all my friends I wish you a very happy Thanksgiving and tight lines!

📍 Ontario, Canada
🐟 Species: Chinook Salmon

She's done it again! Rebecca is back, having shared this catch with me a few days back — this one is a Chinook Salmon worthy of the spotlight. 💪🎣

Chinook, also known as King Salmon, are the largest of all Pacific salmon species. Known for their raw power and long, determined fights, these fish demand strength, skill, and stamina — all of which Rebecca clearly brought to the riverbank!

Rebecca has consistently impressed the World Angling League community with her multi-species talent and dedication to the sport. This catch is just another example of what makes her such a standout angler.

Massive congrats, Rebecca — and thank you for continuing to share your fishing journey with all of us. 👏

Ontario’s own Rebecca Strong is back in action—this time with a gorgeous Smallmouth Bass! One of our most consistent contributors, Rebecca continues to show her skill across multiple species and seasons.

Smallmouth are known for their raw power and acrobatic fights, often punching above their weight with incredible energy. Whether in rocky lake shores or river currents, they demand precision and patience—something Rebecca clearly has in spades.

🪝 Triple Pike Trouble with Rebecca C Strong
📍 Ontario, Canada
🐟 Species: Northern Pike (x3!)

When prolific angler Rebecca C Strong sets out to test a new fly rod, you know something exciting is going to happen. Sure enough—three solid Pike later, the fish were biting... but so was the gear! 😬💥 (Yes, the rod tip snapped during one of the days fights. Brutal.)

Northern Pike are known for their explosive power and toothy attitude—and it looks like Rebecca found that out firsthand - ouch! I have been wanting to try out my fly rods with this species - and its making me rethink the use of some of my lighter rods. Despite the gear mishap, Rebecca delivered a stellar session and proved why she’s one of the most consistent anglers on our page.

Here’s to more big bites and fewer broken rods next time, Rebecca! 🎣🔥🐟 Thanks as always for sharing your awesome adventures with us! Marty

Nice work, Ryan! Can’t wait to see what else you hook into this season. 🎣🔥

Now that’s how you spend a weekend! Long-time supporter Harley Matney, his son Harley Jr., and their friend Rob Herold had an unforgettable day at beautiful Lake Oroville, reeling in a whopping 142 fish—including Spotted Bass, Smallmouth, and even the elusive Largemouth!

As Harley put it:

“The rain didn’t give us a break—but didn’t matter, the fish were biting.”

That’s the spirit we love. Because in the end, fishing is always better with family and friends, and a little rain only makes the stories better. Huge props to the crew for their skills and stamina. You made memories that’ll last a lifetime—and set a bar the rest of us will be chasing all season!

🎣💪☔ Keep those lines tight, gents!

🌷 First of the Season!

Spring has arrived in force, and Rebecca Caroline Strong is kicking it off in style with this beautiful Rainbow Trout — her first of the season! 🎉

🦷 Toothy Beast Alert!
📍 Ontario, Canada
🎣 Angler: Andre Carrier
🐊 Species: Northern Pike

Was looking back over the thousands of fish shared with our page and found this Pike. I love the camera angle on this next Pike! Ontario’s own Andre Carrier who runs the Fishing with André page struck again with this seriously toothy Northern Pike — a species known for its savage strikes, lightning-fast ambushes, and those unmistakable jaws.

Northern Pike are apex hunters, lurking in weedy shallows, drop-offs, and back bays across Canada. Targeting them takes patience, heavy leaders, and an iron grip when it comes time for the net. Whether on spoons, jerkbaits, or live bait, one hit from a Pike and you’re hooked — literally and figuratively.

Andre has been a long-time supporter of the World Angling League, consistently showing us his skill across a wide variety of species. This latest catch is no exception — a great fish by a great angler.

Thanks for everything, Andre. Keep those epic catches coming! 🐟🔥💪

🎣 Angler Spotlight: Jackson Ford
📍 Australia
🐟 Species: Mulloway

It is 'Throwback Thursday', and looking back we give a huge shoutout to Jackson Ford from Australia for this stunning Mulloway catch! These elusive giants are prized by anglers down under for their powerful runs and ghost-like presence in the surf and estuaries.

Mulloway, also known as “Jewfish,” are often found lurking around deep gutters, rocky points, and river mouths—especially under the cover of darkness. Patience, tide knowledge, and stealth are key, and Jackson clearly has all three locked in. 👏🌊

This catch is a testament to Jackson’s skill and understanding of these incredible fish. Thanks for sharing the moment with the World Angling League, mate—we’ll be watching for more epic catches from you across Aussie waters! 🎣🔥
