What a battle for NE701! 🏒

In the U18 Championship Final, NE701 fought through an incredible game that went all the way through regulation and double overtime before ending in a shootout. While the result was a hard-fought Silver medal, this team showed tremendous heart and determination every step of the way.

The journey isn’t over yet! By finishing second, NE701 has earned the opportunity to represent the EFHL and NEZ as a Wild Card team at Provincials in Coaldale from March 26–29.

💛 Join Us in Honour of Tyler Palmowski 💛

We’re proud to support the Tyler Palmowski Memorial Cup — an inspiring annual event held in memory of Tyler, a young hockey fan whose life was taken too soon by brain cancer. This incredible community-driven tournament raises funds for Brain Cancer Canada to help accelerate research into brain cancer, including DIPG and other pediatric brain tumors.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of one of our own, Tayo Yachimec (May 2, 2007 – September 28, 2025).

Tayo was more than a player — he was a bright light in our community. His kindness, laughter, and love for the game made him a teammate and friend everyone looked up to. He brought energy and joy to every team he played on and to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to his family — his mother Tabatha, stepfather Corey, father Rodney, stepmother Jodie, siblings, grandparents, and all who loved him.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, October 7 from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM at Evergreen Funeral Home (16204 Fort Rd NW, Edmonton).
A Celebration of Life will follow on Sunday, October 12 at 1:00 PM at the Ukrainian Youth Unity Complex (9615 153 Ave NW, Edmonton).

Tayo’s spirit, sportsmanship, and smile will never be forgotten.
