Truth be told, I purchased my very first exercise program back in early 2021. One of my best friends convinced me to join the Winter Promo.. little did I know, I was already 3 weeks pregnant and results started protruding instead of retracting lol.
During my pregnancy, exercise wasn’t a priority for me at all. I was juggling two jobs, working towards my Personal Training certification, and tackling our home renovations with determination, all while looking forward to some relaxation after the baby’s arrival. In the end, I ended up gaining over 40 pounds, reaching a peak weight of 202 pounds. I felt completely unlike myself, grappling with feelings of being lost and confused, wondering how I had let this transformation happen. The strength and endurance I had built over a decade, along with my hard-earned muscle, seemed to fade away.
At eight weeks postpartum, I took a leap of faith and invested in postpartum program. This marked the first time I followed a structured exercise routine. I not only rebuilt a strong muscular foundation, but also worked on restoring my weakened pelvic floor. As the program came to a close, I recognized the urgent need to plan out my ongoing training, determined to reclaim my body.
Flash forward to nearly 2 years postpartum and I’ve only JUST hit my pre-pregnancy marker.
I’m not saying it’s easy, because it most definitely is NOT. There will be hurdles. There will be setbacks and it WILL take time. An immense and, at times, torturous amount of time but boy oh boy is it ever worth it.
