Sorting donated food at the Edmonton Food Bank is definitely one of our favourite volunteer activities! There’s something about sorting boxes of donated food and everyone working together that makes for a pretty great evening. 💪😊

We were joined by members of the Northern Lights Rotaract Club and our newest Rotary member, Daniel! 🎉 It was fantastic to have some new faces, lots of energy, and plenty of helping hands.

We sorted, packed, lifted, laughed—and maybe got just a little competitive about who could empty the boxes the fastest! 😉 Most importantly, we know that every item we sorted will end up in a hamper and help someone in our community.

A big **THANK YOU** to everyone who came out and gave their time. This is what **Service Above Self** looks like! 💙

Back in 2017, our club noticed that the stairs leading up from the street to Grandview Extended Care were in pretty rough shape. They had deteriorated to the point where they were unsafe and essentially unusable.

Our club came up with a practical solution. Rotary volunteers built a new wooden staircase over the existing stairs, creating a safe and accessible route for residents, families, staff, and visitors.

Since then, this has become one of those projects that quietly demonstrates what Rotary is all about. Every couple of years, our members return to maintain the staircase, making sure it remains safe, sturdy, and looking its best.

This week, our crew is back at it again! We’ll be repainting the stairs and giving them some much-needed TLC.

It’s also a great reminder that service doesn’t always have to mean a big project or a big cheque. Sometimes it’s simply seeing something that needs to be done, coming up with a solution, and continuing to show up year after year to keep it going.

🏈💚 Our Rotary Club of Edmonton West crew was out greeting fans as they stepped off the buses for the Elks game during the annual Tackle Hunger food drive. After doing this for many years, we've become experts at smiling, waving, and convincing people to part with their money, and that carrying one less can of soup is a perfectly acceptable game-day strategy. 😄

Thanks to the incredible generosity of Edmontonians, an amazing $19,230 and 1,900 kg of food were collected for the Edmonton Food Bank!

A huge thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, and helped make a real difference. You proved once again that our city has a championship heart. 💚💛

The impact of our Guatemala Eye Project continues long after our team returns home. ❤️👓

During our recent mission, patients in San Rafael were carefully measured for prescription glasses. Those prescriptions were brought back to Edmonton, where the glasses were custom made before being shipped back to Guatemala.

We're thrilled to share that the 278 pairs of glasses have now arrived in San Rafael and were distributed by our wonderful friends at the Rotary Club of Barillas. For many recipients, this is the first time they have been able to see clearly—opening doors to learning, working, and enjoying everyday life.

This project is a wonderful example of Rotary partnerships in action, bringing together volunteers in Guatemala and Edmonton to make a lasting difference.

🌳 **Growing a Greener Edmonton, Together!** 🌳

What a fantastic morning volunteering with the City of Edmonton's **Root for Trees** program!

A huge thank you to our Rotary members, family, and our wonderful **Friends of Rotary** who came out to lend a hand. Together, we planted **nearly 100 trees and shrubs**, helping to expand Edmonton's urban canopy and create a greener, healthier city for generations to come.

Every tree planted makes a difference—providing cleaner air, supporting wildlife, reducing urban heat, and making our neighbourhoods even more beautiful.

Many hands truly do make light work. Thank you to everyone who rolled up their sleeves to serve our community!

Our intrepid Rotary Club of Edmonton West volunteers braved the hordes of mosquitoes to clean up our stretch of Highway 16! 🦟💪

The good news? There wasn't much litter to collect, and that's something to celebrate. A big thank you to everyone who is disposing of their trash responsibly and helping keep our highways and communities clean.

Every small act makes a difference. Together, we're proud to do our part in keeping Alberta beautiful. 💙🌎

This week, we were thrilled to receive a cheque of $5,000 from Lorne Proctor representing the Club, along with two boxes of essential personal hygiene items for the youth in our care. Your support makes a real difference!

We're proud to see Edmonton's designation as an International City of Peace featured on Global News!

Our Rotary Club of Edmonton West's 70th Anniversary Legacy Project became a reality with the unveiling of Edmonton's new Peace Pole and the city's recognition as the 474th International City of Peace.

This lasting symbol reminds us that peace begins in our own communities. Together, we can continue building a more inclusive, compassionate, and peaceful future.

❤️🍽️ Giving back, one meal at a time

A group of Edmonton West Rotarians had the privilege of volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House, preparing and serving dinner for families staying at the Edmonton House.

It was an afternoon filled with teamwork and laughter, as we prepared the meal. For families going through challenging times, a warm, home-cooked meal can mean so much—and we were honoured to be part of that comfort.

A special thank you to Fred for the delicious recipe, that helped make the meal extra special! 👨‍🍳
