Is anyone else thinking about ice?

I would be lying if I said I wasn't looking forward ice fishing already. Fall is in the air, and for now, I am off to moose camp!

Longest of the year.

Almost a month ago now (boy time flies), I had the pleasure of guiding some good ol boys from Sweden. It turned out to be my favorite week of pike fishing all season with Team WestGear. Not only did we see and catch plenty of big pike, but the laughs and vibes in the boat were emaculent. This happened to be the longest pike of my season that we livescoped off of deepwater structure not far from the lodge. As a guide the livescope is a great tool to switch to if the fish in the weedbeds and shallow bays are lock jaw. I wouldnt want to catch every fish using it, but it can really save the day sometimes!

Rock Pile Pike

Snuck out for an evening solo adventure, fishing new structure, and having it pay off with a fish of this caliber is so rewarding! Was able to film the whole night and will be loading a new video to the YouTubes soon! I'm excited to share this new territory of pike fishing with y'all!

Maker a Laker

Quick evening fishing trip resulted in some beautiful views and big fish! Flat calm hot days are pushing the trout deep, making for my favorite trout fishing all season. The best is yet to come! Hopefully, I will get more time to fish the next few days. #40

Bonus Pike

Last week, this 40" silver pike made Thomas day. We were trolling a 35-foot trench for lake trout when his half wave spoon got slammed. I knew something was off during the fight, and when this big silver made the net, we were extremely happy. A welcomed surprise while trout trolling. The pike are slowly making their way out to deep water structure, and I can't wait to scope out new rockpiles for them.

Rubber Bib Cowboy

Was an epic first week back Lac La Martre Adventures for myself. I'm so happy to be back on island time and surrounded by pike of this caliber. The weather has been incredibly hot with little to no wind, and the pike have been snapping! Thus, why you see me in this stylish attire. I prefer the plastic bibs just simply for pike slime and ease of washing off at the end of the day. This was one the most impressive fish in my boat this week, but the rest of the crew have been out-doing themselves.

Grateful for solid rests and steady hands.

It was a great night that could not have worked out better for us. This bear was too pretty not to post twice.

Carters First Big Game Hunt

It was a pleasure to guide this father son duo this spring. We were having plenty of close calls through the week, and it just seemed we were always a few seconds too late. On day 4 this young boar came strutting down our way, and we didn't waste the opportunity. A perfect rest resulted in a perfect shot, making me a happy guide. I have a strong feeling this won't be Carters last hunting trip, and maybe he will be behind the gun one day.

Quick Cabin Getaway

Was fortunate to make my way to the family cabin for a few days. The fish were plentiful, shorelunch was on point, and the company was fantastic. I wish we could have stayed longer, but it's time to head to Guideland. Crayfish and minnow patterns were hot, so luckily, we did not have to bottom bounce. Nothing makes walleye fishing more boring than bottom bouncing.
