My last ice fishing fish?

Yesterday was officially the latest I have ever ice fished. May 8th and still drilling holes! The ice was disintegrating rapidly through the day, I would say in 6 days it'll be open water. Managed to dodge the minefield of old holes and floodwater seeps to get a good day of fishing in. Closed out the winter season with some chunky splake!

Flatlanders take on Campbell River

My first trip to the west coast could not have gone better. Was a treat to enjoy some sunshine while back home was getting hit with 5th winter. Good times with good friends, will definitely be going back. Thanks to for showing us beautiful country and the bounty of the ocean.

Late ice, new moon, new waters.

Started April with the goal of landing a new personal best brown trout. After many miles with some good choices and some bad ones. I was rewarded with this absolute stunner of a brown trout. It looks like my ice season may finally be over. I have fished more days than I ever have, catching more big fish than I ever have. Thanks to everyone who fished with me along the way this winter, many great memories were made. What a winter, and what a fish to end it on... maybe.

March, walleye edition.

Right place, at the right time. March led me to multiple trophy walleye, all thanks to the mountain. 8 over 28" in 6 days was a run of fishing I may never beat. Not to mention the countless others in that mid to high 20's, it was some great fishing! The majority of these fish landed using the Firehouse tip-ups! They are a huge help during overnight trips, no need to search for a flag with a flashlight. Even on the brightest days, the lights are still visible up to 150 yards.

March, pike edition.

It's hard to express in words how fortunate I was this year. March not only brought me huge fish, but it brought me new friends, new places, and new stories. I am grateful for a few great frames to establish this March as possibly my favorite yet.

Yesterday's exploration trip.

Headed off into some new areas yesterday, water that I have never ice fished before. The first spot was a bust, but after a short move and keeping the big baits on, I was rewarded! This chunky 40" (102cm) pike sure made the day! Landed other respectable pike and even some bonus walleye at sunset! Was a day I truly love, gambling on new water, searching for new bites. Definitely will be revisiting this one before the season ends.

March Madness Monday

This fish truly had me at a loss for words. I could not believe my eyes when I saw her tail well surpass my previous best pike. This stormy, snowy day will forever be burned into my memory as one of the greatest days ever. Could not have been possible without my good friend . This was 99% Logans fish. She just happened to choose my dead bait to eat that day. Logan, thank you for the weekend of fishing. Thank you for the photos. Thank you for the hospitality. And thank you for guiding me to my personal best pike. I am grateful to have held a fish of this caliber for myself, and not for a guest in my boat.

Should have been here yesterday.

Finally, I had one of those days on the mountain where you realize why people are so crazy for this fishery. An absolute unit! The most impressive walleye I've ever put my hands on, blessed to have gotten the chance. Scoped her 40 feet away in 28 feet and started dropping a rattle bait. She was slow and steady and crushed it! It all happened so fast, but I am still in awe of that fish. Thanks, , for grabbing some pics before she swam home.
