This is advanced trust when cleaning the hooves. It took several steps: teaching the cues, being consistent, giving grace when she was tight, allowing feedback.

Don't be a horseowner who wants this and skips steps - that WILL get you hurt.

Some people love to tell you what is right, wrong and safe is in our industry.

Here are 2 truths:

✔️ the "safe" horse can kill you (or at least seriously injure you)

✔️ proper training, leadership, setups for the horse allow for variances in methodology

💥 A big concern is that learners or newbies or lesser educated horseowners will see a pro doing the task they want to be able to do and they will latch right on and try the finished step.
No training, no understanding, no practice until there's confidence and trust. THAT is risky.

🐎 Then they edify based on their own position in the learning stages with all their own fears and doubts, usually quoting something from another piece of info or opinion they picked up that feeds to their position and not to the possibilities.

It takes knowledge (take some courses) + understanding (put in the practice) to get WISDOM.

Horsemanship without Wisdom is FOOLISHNESS!

Manage grass turnout with small spaces.
💥 happy horses
💥 building tolerance
💥 1/2 hour time segments
💥 easy to catch

Once they are up to 4 hrs built over several weeks of management- they are good for the day.

BUT, move them to a more lush grass area ...

💥 be careful again
💥 always cut back grain ration
💥 always watch mobility and hoof temperature

Came home from vacation to a serious health issue.

😒 Snoopy was crippled

🐎 he had an incredible will to live

🤔 laminitis can be life ending

💕 vet involved - body worker sessions too

🧨 pain meds

👣 hoof care was long and questionable

DON'T GIVE UP !

Snoopy is rideable and now getting senior recovery workouts to rebuild muscles that faded during this period of rehab.

So thankful 💖
