The album for Day 1 of the U15/U17/U19 Canadian Wrestling Championships was released today by the great Bill Bain. Sharing some amazing shots he took of our team.

Nationals Recap of Day 3 (Greco Roman Competition)📣📣

We had five wrestlers take part in the Greco Roman competition—Emma Greenwood, Brayden Zuback, Emily Ingram-Reid, Aoife Mann and Skyler Bilot. Two wrestlers (Elyssa Olson and Lyla Boylan) were still injured from Day 1.

We had some great results:

🥇Brayden Zuback U17 51kg gold! Double Champ!

🥈Emily Ingram-Reid U17 73kg silver!

🥉Emma Greenwood U19 69kg bronze!

Skyler Bilot (U15 44kg) had some incredible wins against larger opponents and just lost a close battle for bronze, securing a huge 4th place in a large bracket!

Aoife Mann (U17 61kg) also had some great wins and placed fourth!

Awesome day and end to 2026 Nationals overall!

Day 1 Nationals Recap: 📣📣

Cowichan Valley Wrestling Club had an exciting Day 1 at Nationals, with some highs and some lows. A couple injuries resulted in some disappointment, but that happens at this level of competition.

We still put up some great results. We hit the podium twice:

🥇Brayden Zuback had an amazing run to a U17 51kg gold medal, facing the division’s toughest opponents! National Champ!

🥉Elyssa Olson was able to win a U17 73kg bronze medal in spite of an injury and having to forfeit her last match.

We also had two other top 6 finishes. Emma Greenwood placed 4th in U19 69kg and Emily Ingram-Reid placed 4th in U17 73kg. Great job to them and our other wrestlers who didn’t place, it’s a huge accomplishment just to be here!

On to Day 2, we have only one Cowichan wrestler competing today. Let’s go Skyler!!!

🏆 Senior Top Dogs of The Week 🏆

Big congrats to Skyler B. and Lidia M. for being named this week’s Senior top dogs! Skyler continues to work hard and push himself. He’s our only U15 going to Nationals next week. Good luck Skyler! Lidia’s commitment to the team and improving her skill is outstanding… she celebrated her 16th birthday on the mats. Happy Birthday Lidia!

🌟 Future Stars Wrestling is Back! 🌟

Coach Nick Zuback is once again running his **Future Stars Wrestling program** a great entry point into the sport and where many of our CVWC wrestlers first got their start!

🗓 Tuesdays | April 14 – June 9
⏰ 5:30 – 6:30 PM
📍 Queen Margaret’s School (Duncan)
👦👧 Ages 4–10 (some exceptions apply)
💲 $150 per child

This program is independently run by Coach Nick and focuses on:
✔ Confidence
✔ Discipline
✔ Fun and fundamentals
✔ Building friendships

🎁 Bonus:
• Register by April 14 and receive a wrestling t-shirt
• All participants earn a medal & certificate at the end

What a great night last night at the annual CVWC Awards Night and Banquet! Lots of celebration of great achievement by wrestlers and recognition of volunteers, and some sadder moments with the amazing Coach Karen stepping back next year. Overall a really fun night with some great food and incredible people that make up our club! Can’t wait until next season!

BC Wrestling was proud to support the 2026 BC Indigenous Wrestling Development Camp, hosted by Cowichan Valley Wrestling Club in partnership with I·SPARC (Indigenous Sport, Physical Activity & Recreation Council) in preparation for the upcoming North American Indigenous Games

Held at Queen Margaret’s School in Duncan, the camp brought together athletes for a full day of wrestling development, learning, and connection. Thank you to Cowichan Valley Wrestling Club and I·SPARC for organizing such an incredible event and creating meaningful opportunities for Indigenous athletes in our sport.

A huge thank you to Olympian and World Champion Justina Di Stasio for joining the camp and sharing her journey in wrestling. Justina spoke about her career competing for Canada around the world, the lessons she has learned through sport, and how proud she is to represent her biracial heritage as an Italian and Norway House Cree Nation Indigenous bi-racial athlete.

From her time as a standout wrestler at Simon Fraser University, to becoming a Senior World Champion and representing Canada at the 2024 Olympic Games, Justina’s story was incredibly inspiring for the next generation of wrestlers. We’re also grateful for the help from her soon-to-be-born baby, who technically joined her for the speech too!
