I just wanted to reshare this. If anyone has ever wanted to run their own outdoors TV show this is silly a golden opportunity. Feel free to PM me with any questions.....
Here is the toughest Facebook post I have ever made on this page.
It is with very mixed emotions that I will no longer be producing my TV show.
This past 12 years of doing the show have allowed me to meet so many amazing people and partners and it has opened many doors that have altered my life….. literally. But I feel it is time to let it go. It is massive amounts of work to do this (almost) alone and someone or a couple of people a little younger and full of energy could take this show to the next level…….. SO…. The Real Deal TV show is up for sale if anyone would like to continue the show. I can remain on as a consultant, content provider and videographer for a year or two to help the new owners carry on. Along with my consultation you would get several video cameras, a bunch of Tacticam cameras, tripods, tree arms for cameras, all kinds of video accessories and equipment. But the most important thing you will get is the ability to approach sponsors and partners with a TV show that has been airing for over 10 years and that is something that is not very common in the industry. You will also have access to all my sponsors, partners, industry contacts, final editor, web site, page, instagram account etc. etc. If you are interested send me a PM and we can discuss some options.
Doing this TV show mostly on my own has been very rewarding, but doing this show on my own also means I have no back up plan if things change……. And things have changed for me recently.
As many of you know I am an open book. I have been sharing my life through my TV show and social media for 10+ years now and I have always tried to be open and fully transparent….. hence the name of the TV show….. The Real Deal!!
Last fall I had a couple of scopes done on my esophagus and upper stomach, as part of these scopes I also had a series of blood work done before Christmas and the results didn’t come back good.
In January they retested and it still was not good….. I was referred to a specialist in February and he ran the bloodwork testing again… Strike Three!!!
I met with the surgeon on April 8th and a biopsy surgery was booked on his first available opening of May 8th. But, I was put on a short list for any available cancellations or last minute openings and I got in for surgery on April 25th. This was followed by a 3 week…. A LONGGGGG 3 week wait for results which came back as expected. PROSTATE CANCER. How quickly your life changes when you hear those two simple words. Two Simple Words……. TWO SIMPLE WORDS….. prostate cancer!!!!!
Now that I have the diagnosis, the investigation process begins. CT scan and bone scan are in the works. Bone scan is to see if the cancer has spread to the bones. Once these scans are done and I have met with the Radiation Oncologist at the Cancer Centre in Thunder Bay I will need to decide if I have surgery (open surgery in Thunder Bay or Robotically Assisted Surgery in Toronto) to remove my prostate or if I have radiation done…… with the possibility of even both happening.
So, on top of all of this I also have a hernia that needs surgery and I am seeing the surgeon at the end of May and hopefully I will have that surgery done fairly soon as well. This in and of itself has been a fairly big hassle. I joke that getting old sucks…… but, it sure beats the alternative.
With these health conditions needing my full attention I will not be able to provide the content for the TV show for Season 11.
Looking back I can not believe what The Real Deal has done. I was told in year one that we wouldn’t survive year 2. I was told in year two that we wouldn’t make year 5. Well here we are airing Season 10 and without the pre mentioned issues we would still be headed to Season 11, 12, 13 and beyond.
GUYS...... get your PSA levels checked yearly once you hit 50!!!
