Throw back to May when THSD attended Dance Rage Festival with What an amazing weekend, with some break through performances!

Along with receiving Bronze, Silver, Gold or High Gold, each section's top score was awarded "Outstanding", each group section a Choreography Award, and depending on the size of the section an additional Most Promising or Adjudicators Choice.

Here's a recap of our results:

Many of our solo and duet pieces were recognized with Outstanding, Most Promising & Adjudicators Choice Awards as well.

Top Awards:

All the Lonely People was selected for the Dance Off, and received Top Choreography of the Festival
Drew Hatch was awarded a Full Scholarship to The Base Dance Intensive

We LOVE dancing in Camrose, on the big stage, the beautiful facility, and alongside such high quality dancers - both in technique, artistry, and kind humans. This art form really can support one another and we sure felt that at Dance Rage!

Our regular season may be over, but we've got one last performance, right here in Drumheller!

That's right, THSD Competitive team performs their year end recital on Friday May 1, 7:00pm @ the Kaleidoscope Theatre. Tickets $15/seat available at the door.
This performance showcases our competitive team's group dances, as well as highlights our 4 graduating dancers.

Congrats dancers, on an excellent showing at Sparkle Dance Festival .dance.festival this past weekend in Olds. We were able to share the stage with some incredible studios, learn from high quality adjudicators, and continue to grow our artistry. This festival breaks down into 5 levels (determined by years of training) and marks as follows:

High Gold - 90+
Gold - 85-89
Silver - 80-84
Bronze - 79 or less

In each section 1 or 2 (depending on the number of entries) Sparkle awards are chosen by the adjudicator (not marked based) and a choreography award in group sections. Here are our group results. We had many soloists and duets recognized throughout the weekend as well. Be sure to ask your THSD dancer about their weekend highlights!

Galaxy Festival (by Dance Productions) was so much fun! Finally getting around to posting our final results. Festival took place March 27-29 in Brooks. New venue for THSD, but with some of the most fun studios to dance alongside all weekend.

Marking system for this event is:
91+ - Diamond
88-90 - High Gold
85-87 - Gold
83-84 - High Silver
80-82 - Silver
75-79 - Bronze

Each group section is awarded an Outstanding Award (top scoring entry in the section), a Most Promising Award (adjudicators choice) and a Choreography Award. On stage shout outs are at the adjudicators discretion to performers that caught their eye for one reason or another.

It has been a busy 3 weeks at THSD.
Our team performed at the Drumheller Performing Arts Festival, Dancing from the Heart in Stettler, and our Pre-Comp and Recreational Classes had their year end recital.
Lots of news to share, but this post is focused on the Drumheller Performing Arts Festival, right here in the valley. Our dancers performed beautifully, and received a number of accolades at the festival's Final Concert and Awards night on March 15.
Huge shout out and thank you to Performing Arts Festival for organizing a fantastic event, bringing in excellent dance and musical theatre adjudicators, and providing an environment celebrating performance and togetherness in art.

Don't miss out! Our Teen Sampler class still has space available.

This class is geared for students 11+ and will provide instruction in hip hop, jazz and lyrical. Yes, this class performs on stage in the spring, in a style determined by the instructor, with student input.

Have a teen that wants to dance, but feels "too old" to start? This class is a perfect intro to different styles in a non-competitive environment.
