Windfall Acres - Holistic Horse Boarding

Currently on the lookout for a several horses to buy! Lease may be possible for #3

Ideally would like to stay within Ontario but open to looking in other provinces.

All must- be sound barefoot, be able to live out 24/7 in a mixed herd (we do blanket as well as stall in very severe weather). No vices or dangerous behaviours.

Videos will be required prior to booking viewings. If you say it can do it, please provide videos showing it as such.

1. Solid citizen, well broke, SAFE.
No babies but also not a hoof in the grave. Thinking in the 6-12 year age range (with some wiggle room)
Preference to an established dressage foundation, but also would consider a handy western trained horse. Will be used for dressage + working equitation.
Not green. Not needing finishing. Not "has potential".
Must be a solid/stocky build. Would prefer a draft cross, or a larger ranch bred QH, but open to others that fit the bill.
No smaller than 15.1hh. And again- SOLID build.
10-25k budget depending on the horse.

2. Younger/greener, but MUST be well started
4+ years old. No 3 year olds
Must finish over 16hh
Thick/drafty build
Future suitability for dressage, working equitation, and eventing.
Must be very very very well minded. Suitable for an ammie to bring along with a coach
Mid-high 4figure budget

3. Lesson horse type. Must be SOUND SOUND. Not "sound enough for lessons"
14hh+
Older is fine depending on breed and soundness
Needs to be ready to step into a lesson program basically right away
Mostly looking for more advanced riders but NEEDS to be safe and suitable for the odd beginner rider if needed.
Does not need to be fancy
Low-mid 4 figure budget. Possibly would lease.

4. Schoolmaster, been there, done that, wrote the book.
Older and looking to step down. Sound to still do low level dressage and pleasure riding.
SAFE SAFE SAFE and forgiving. Forward is fine but not hot
15.2hh+
Also wanting a solid/stock build for this one. Big fan of that here lol
Mid-high 4 figure budget. May consider lower 5s depending on the horse

This past week brought one of the harder reminders of why doing the right thing is not always the easiest thing.

A new horse arrived at Windfall Acres last Monday. Within 24 hours, I noticed several concerning signs that suggested something was seriously wrong. A veterinary appointment was made, and unfortunately my concerns were confirmed. He was suffering from advanced cancer, and the disease had progressed beyond what could be treated or managed humanely. Given his age, the available surgical options were not appropriate, and the kindest decision was humane euthanasia.

What made this especially heartbreaking was that he was one of the sweetest, gentlest horses you could ever meet. Despite living with chronic pain, he remained kind, cooperative, and safe to handle. He had even continued being ridden before arriving here. Horses are incredibly stoic animals, and sometimes they carry far more discomfort than they let us see.

I also want to be very clear that this is not a criticism of his owner. In all my years around horses, I have only encountered these particular symptoms once before. Had I not had that experience, I may not have recognized them as quickly myself.

The reason I am sharing this story is because it highlights something that is fundamental to how we operate at Windfall Acres.

The decisions that are best for the horse are not always the easiest decisions. They are not always the decisions that make financial sense. They are not always the decisions people want to hear.

In this industry, there can be tremendous pressure to continue managing, continue treating, continue hoping, or simply look the other way. Sometimes that pressure comes from emotions, and sometimes it comes from the very real costs associated with horse ownership and horse care. But there comes a point when our responsibility is not to prolong life at all costs, but to protect quality of life.

Horses are not investments. They are not monthly board payments. They are living, breathing animals that deserve dignity, comfort, and freedom from unnecessary suffering.

At Windfall Acres, our first priority will always be the horse. Not convenience. Not profit. Not what is easiest for people. What is best for the horse.

As difficult as this week has been, I am grateful this lovely gelding found his way here. While we could not save him, we were able to ensure that his final chapter was one of compassion, dignity, and peace.

Looking to SELL my horse trailer ($4000) or TRADE for a smaller one

Solid, older, but well looked after gooseneck. Its technically a 3 horse however we have comfortably fit 4 horses many time

Not as heavy as it looks- has been pulled for years by a F150. When i first purchased it we did several modifications which made it much lighter

It is XL/Warmblood/Draft approved. Have trailered 18hh+ in this with ease!

Currently is opened up as 2 large box stalls but will come with the divider that makes 3 spots.

Not a slant load- this gives horses lots of space to travel and balance comfortably

Matted floors
Back step up
Side ramp load
New tires and rims in 2023 with minimal mileage since
Serviced annually

It's not pretty but it works great!
Frame is good and structurally sound. May need some patching cosmetically- i am happy to have this done prior to being picked up by my body worker/welder at buyers expense if desired

NO tack room - but we do have saddle stands attached to the back to allow for easy tacking one you arrive where you need to be.

Thank you to all for the concerned messages regarding the tornado this evening!

Beyond a few fence repairs- all horses and structures (and people!) Are completely okay :)

We ended up having a gorgeous evening after it ended!
