As most of you know I don’t say much on this sight! Add me with my personal account John John McCarthy to here things from me. One thing I would like to say is reach out to friends, co-workers, or a trainer to help and get self fit if you feel overwhelmed by yourself! You are to important to neglect any longer! Good luck and remember the sooner you start the sooner you feel better physically and mentally!

A new John John favourite - we forgot a side of lentil beans with this today for more variety but it was so good anyway! You don't need mashed potatoes and a fattening gravy to enjoy a nice filling fall meal. Use roasted cauliflower as a side and enjoy skinless boneless chicken sautéed in a red wine/organic low sodium chicken broth/mushroom sauce.

Enjoy your pasta! Make it healthier by using whole wheat pasta, or brown rice pasta as we've done here. Avoid creamy sauces, (we used garlic, and a little fresh lemon juice and zest) and add a healthy portion of high fibre veggies on the side!

It's BBQ season which brings lots of opportunity for healthier eating. Try a lean burger without the bun, (you can also try half lean ground beef, half turkey), grilled zucchini and BBQ beans (recipe below).

This meal has 370 calories, and 13.5 g of fat. High in protein and fibre and low n sugar and carbs.

Make a few substitutions and have a healthier meal - turkey or portobello burger rather than ground beef, rice instead of fries and always add a hearty serving of salad or veggies. When using bagged salad never use the whole serving of dressing. Half is a good measure. Use a small whole wheat dinner roll or flatbread instead of big white buns!

The old saying is an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure and the same can be said about healthy eating. We use Sundays to prepare meals for the week ahead. It takes some time, but it saves time during the busy week and ensures we eat healthy low fat meals rather than convenience food laced with chemicals and high in calories.

Make a healthy lunch with that leftover whole brown rice and whatever veggies you have in your fridge. Heat some olive oil in a wok, add garlic and some veggies (we used leftover broccoli and some mushrooms) heat the veggies then add your leftover rice and an egg for protein.
