The tournament serves as an opportunity for friends, family and community members to come together for a great weekend of fun

and friendly competition. The tournament attracts players of all skill levels however the emphasis is always kept on good sportsmanship and enjoying the company of friends and family. The 2017 Tournament takes place April 12th through to April 26th at the BAYPLEX in Glace Bay, NS

To every player who laced up, every family who came out, every volunteer who showed up, and every sponsor who made it possible: thank you.

Since 1997, this tournament has raised close to $100,000 in bursaries for local graduating students. That's Jason's legacy. That's what this is all about.

Opening Ceremony: 2026 Jason Simmons Memorial Hockey Tournament

For nearly 30 years, this tournament has brought the Cape Breton community together every Easter weekend and raised close to $100,000 in bursaries for local graduating students.

The Opening Ceremony for the 2026 Jason Simmons Memorial Hockey Tournament starts soon at the Miners Forum.

Since 1997, this tournament has brought the Cape Breton community together every Easter weekend and raised close to $100,000 in bursaries for local graduating students.

This Easter Weekend, 5 lucky ticket holders will get their shot at winning a car at the 2026 Jason Simmons Memorial Hockey Tournament thanks to Shoot For a Car! Presented by MacDonald Auto Group

Here's how it works: purchase a ticket for $10, and if your name is drawn on Sunday, April 5th at the Glace Bay Miners Forum, you step out on the ice and take your shot. Score, and you drive home in a new car.
