A message from the Delhi Minor Baseball Association:
Many of you may have noticed that our previous posts regarding the incident at Delcrest Diamond have been removed. We want to address that directly and provide an update.
Since those posts went live, we have been made fully aware of the circumstances surrounding the situation. What was initially suspected has been clarified — this was an unfortunate accident involving local youth. Those responsible have come forward, are taking full accountability, and are making the right steps to move forward. While what occurred should never have happened and caused real harm to our facility and our community, we recognize that owning a mistake and facing it with courage is exactly what we ask of young people. We will not meet that with anything less than grace.
We are still in the process of assessing the full extent of the damage to our shed and equipment at Delcrest Diamond. What we do know is that the costs to repair and replace what was lost will likely run into the thousands of dollars — a significant blow to a community association that exists entirely for the kids in this town.
What has moved us deeply, however, is YOU. The outpouring of support from this community has been nothing short of remarkable. Whether you have reached out to offer a monetary donation, lent your time, your tools, or your hands to help us rebuild — thank you. Truly.
At the end of the day, supporting youth is at the very heart of everything we do here at DMBA — not just on the diamond, but in the moments that are hard too. The good times and the difficult ones. That doesn't change.
We will keep you updated as we move through the assessment and recovery process. In the meantime, if you'd like to help, please don't hesitate to reach out.
