So proud of HSHD alumn Robyn! She joins the ranks of several Higgins Alumni who are now inspiring the next generation of Highland dancers 💕
Meet ✨ Robyn ✨ Celtic Roots Dance Academy’s Highland Dance Director!
She will teaching our monthly pop up highland classes this fall and running our weekly program starting in January 2026.
Robyn began Highland Dancing at the age of 23 under the instruction of Kathleen Higgins in Dartmouth, NS. Quickly falling in love with the sport, what began as her recreational, once per week activity became a major part of her life. She then spent most weekends travelling to competitions with her fellow dancers and cheering on other adult beginner dancers.
She has had the opportunity to dance all over Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. In 2018, she travelled to Scotland with some fellow dancers and the Sons of Scotland Pipe Band from Ottawa. She danced at many notable locations such as the Palace of Holyroodhouse, and a private performance at Balmoral Castle for Her Majesty the Queen, among other members of the Royal Family.
In 2021, Robyn auditioned and was accepted to perform in the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo (though had been unable to attend due to a personal scheduling conflict). The same year, Robyn earned her Associates teaching certificate with distinction with the Scottish Dance Teachers Alliance.
When Robyn isn’t dancing, she is spending time with her husband and two children, reading and thrift store shopping!
