Well our dragon boat season is done but the memories still warm our hearts. What a year of growth and rebuilding for the club, what a year of welcoming new paddlers to the sport and what a year of FUN!!!

The boat may be empty now but, as you can see, there's lots of room and a seat for YOU next spring with Sudden Impact Paddling Club at Cultus Lake! If you are looking for a community of super supportive folks and exercise for all fitness levels outside paddling in paradise, ya gotta come check us out! If you are interested, drop us a message cuz we’re starting a list for next season right now!

REGATTA UPDATE AND DATES!
Hello awesome paddlers!
Here are the dates of the regattas we hope to attend. We are in the home stretch of deciding to register as a result of the survey Annette conducted.
So, upon seeing the dates here you indicated "yes" but now have a conflict, please let us know ASAP! We need solid numbers to move ahead. You can leave your comment below if you have had a change.
Or if you originally said "no" but now realize you are free, let us know ASAP. 1st preference will be given to those who first responded. But all that means is that you may not race every race as we might have to sub folks in and out. NO big deal, happens all the time and is no indication of ability but rather seat placement and balancing the boat for weight side to side, front to back. Also comment below if there is an event you now wish to participate in.

Update for the month of May.

The doodle link for May is now set up. Our new evening start time is now 6:30 for warm-up and 6:45 on the lake.

Please only sign up once on doodle and then "edit" your responses. Any last minute changes- (2 hours before practice) should be changed on the doodle as well as text Annette 604-308-8122.

We will continue to practice as a full club for May but will reassess making separate teams starting June if the numbers continue to increase.

If you'd like to try dragon boating, please come out to any one of our practices! You have 3 free tries before deciding if you’d like to join the club!

We have had an excellent start to the 2022 season, weather notwithstanding! We have seen the return of many of our existing paddlers and have been happy to welcome so many new paddlers. Now seems to be a great time to assess where we are and what our next steps are to be....and so we need the input of each of our people hoping to make this a season to remember

We won gold at the Inlet Springs Regatta today! What an awesome experience with our combined teams. We rock!! Want to join our club? Let us know! Right now in COVID times we are a different club but so many opportunities as we enter this new normal. 😊

The last parking gig of the season is here!! The Vintage Barn Market is at Heritage Park on April 29, 30 and May 1st. Please sign up! It's quick and easy and these fundraisers are fun!!

If you are a new paddler, it's important to know that these parking fundraisers are how our club pays for regattas, pay to support our infrastructure and our club overhead. If you have not yet aligned with a specific team, simply write in "unassigned" under your team name.

Beautiful night out paddling tonight! You just never know when a mixed bag day of weather will calm down enough for our practice. Come on out and see for yourself! First three paddles are free to try it out. 😊

As we head into our season, please note that even if a particular practice listed on the Doodle looks like it is "full" (as in 20+ people attending) please do add your name to the list if you want to come to practice. We have options with our BuK, our 10 person boat dragon boat and OC 6's. There will be a place for everyone! 🙂

Woo Hoo! Our first Tuesday practice is April 5th at 6 pm!!! Can you make it??

Please be sure that you complete the doodle if you intend to come to practice and have a seat to paddle in. The doodle is being used to prepare the right amount of steers people and boats. If you want to invite a guest you can add your name with the word (guest) behind it.

Membership is due April 1 and is $150 to be paid by those who need to make that decision to join the club as well as a membership form to be submitted.

Guests can paddle for free 3 times and there is a guest waiver to be signed.

Happy Friday, and welcome back to our returning Water Warriors and welcome to our newest team members!

As you probably already know we are paddling as a club for now to work out our numbers in the coming weeks before we break off into teams. Please have your membership forms filled out and signed and your $150 fee ready for tomorrow morning. If you are still trying out the sport you have three free paddles. Fees can be paid either by cheque (made out to Sudden Impact Paddling Club), cash or etransfer to [email protected]. Send a message to me, Bonnie Showers Russell, your team captain, before you etransfer so I know to look for it.

Parking passes are available now for April through to September for parking lots A, B, and C Monday-Saturday (Sat until 10:00 a.m. only). They are $50 and you call into Cultus Lake Park at 604-858-3334 and give them your name and let them know you're with Sudden Impact and of course you'll need your licence plate #. Let me know if you want to be added to the list as we need to call ahead to give them your name.
