South Cowichan Lawn Tennis Club Canada's oldest heritage lawn tennis club situated in Cowichan Bay on Vancouver Island serving generations of tennis players since 1887.

ABOUT US:
One of the oldest lawn tennis clubs in the world and the oldest grass court tennis club in Canada, we have been serving generations of tennis players since 1887. The club is run and maintained by dedicated members and volunteers. TENNIS FACILITIES:
The club has a total of 9 courts: 7 grass courts and 2 hard courts. The grass courts are maintained during the playing season on a daily basi

s. Court #1 is the Heritage Court, and Court #2 occupy the prime spectator spot in front of the clubhouse's large veranda. A practice wall has being added since 2014. CLUBHOUSE FACILITIES:
Our members and guests have exclusive access to the clubhouse facilities, including a large lounge area with TV, a fully licensed bar, kitchen, washrooms, and shower/changing facilities. Free WIFI is also available for all of our members and guests. There is a large veranda overlooking the courts with a view of the Cowichan Bay, mountains of Salt spring Island and beyond. The clubhouse is surrounded by mature trees, herbaceous gardens and lawns where spectators can sit to enjoy the play or just take in the spectacular scenery and wonderful ambience. PLAYING SEASON:
Our playing season on the grass courts starts mid May and lasts until mid September each year. Our hard courts are playable all year round - weather permitting. The annual membership fee allows members unlimited access to the courts unless they are being used for a tournament or a pre-booked event. VISITORS AND GUESTS:
Visitors may play at our club when accompanied by a member for a maximum of 3 times each season, for a maximum of 2 hours per visit. The cost for a visitor for grass court play is $20/day for adult, $10/day for junior. For hard court play, the cost is $10/day for both adult and junior. To book a court time and arrange payment please call the club at 250-746-7282. GRASS COURT MEMBERSHIP:
- "Out Of Town" memberships are available to members living either north of Davis Road, Ladysmith or south of the Malahat Summit.
- "Off Island" memberships are available to non-residents of Vancouver Island. Membership is non-voting but with full club and playing privileges. Membership fees will be pro-rated for any new Local or Out of Town member joining after July 15th. HARD COURT MEMBERSHIP:
A limited number of Hard Court only memberships are available giving unlimited access to the hard courts and club facilities.

We’re thrilled to kick off 2026 by sharing some exciting news with our SCLTC community!

In November 2024, South Cowichan Lawn Tennis Club was officially welcomed into the Centenary Tennis Clubs (CTC)—a global association of some of the most historic and prestigious tennis clubs in the world. CTC membership is reserved for clubs that are over 100 years old, have at least eight courts, and have hosted ITF or Davis Cup tournaments. We’re incredibly proud to now be part of this special group!

Saturday, May 24th, marked opening day for the new grass court season at our beautiful and picture perfect South Cowichan Lawn Tennis Club!

Over 55 players enthusiastically ushered in the new season under clear blue skies, by playing doubles matches, partaking in Liveball clinics on one of our two hard courts, and celebrating with a lunch BBQ and cake mixer!

SCLTC welcomes all players, families, friends and volunteers back for another wonderful season of tennis at Canada's oldest grass court tennis club!

This season will be the 138th anniversary of the founding of the club!
