26 Giant Reign Advanced E+ 1
As an avid mountain biker generally riding 4–6 times a week, I never really thought about owning an e-MTB anytime in the near future... but with the idea of evening laps being doubled, the time is now.
Initial thoughts of the Reign Advanced E+ 1... you couldn't wipe the smile off my face! The ability to cut climb times in half, while keeping the same HR and a similar workout, is absolutely mind-blowing.
The first time pointing it downhill was in Pasadena at one of my favorite trails, Howler, built by the incredibly talented Brydon Cooper. Howler is full of steep tech, chundery roots, off-camber roots, and fun features... all of which the bike simply floated over. Sending it downhill for the first time on a mullet bike, it was very VERY evident they are built for the DH. The ability to snap around trees and berms even quicker than before lit a fire in the "need to go fast" part of my brain. And with big speed comes big stops.. The absolutely massive (and thick!) TRP rotors/brakes had no issue pulling all that momentum to a dead stop or a skid around a tree.
While I didn't use it in this year's Long Range Enduro, it was used to sweep the expert course and did so without a hitch! Using a lower power mode, the bike finished the sweep with 48% remaining. 🤯
