Exercise of the week. Eccentric 90 Degree Knee Chin-up’s. A great combo exercise which hammers the core and upper body. It’s also a great chin up variation to keep people honest who like to use momentum.

Most people focus on pulling up—but the real strength is built on the way down.

Eccentric chin-ups force you to slow everything down and actually own the movement. No dropping, no relying on momentum—just full control from top to bottom. Knees bent to lock in the core, keeping the body tight so every inch of the descent is intentional.

This is where you build strength, stability, and resilience in the muscles that matter. It’s not the easiest way to train, but it’s one of the most effective.

Sarah McGill is now offering McGill Method low back assessments and rehab coaching in the treatment room at Chalk’s Training! If you have low back pain that comes and goes based on what you are doing, or has been persistent for years, start with a phone call with Sarah to see if it is the right fit for you and your low back pain.

The McGill Method starts with a thorough 3-hour assessment to understand the source of your pain, specific pain triggers, relief strategies, and your goals and lifestyle. Sarah guides you on what to do and what to avoid to wind down the pain based on the assessment findings, and then build a foundation for pain-free activity with appropriate progressions towards your goals.

At CHALK’S we focus on individual personalized training. In our Semi-private training sessions it combines a group session, with individualized programming. This service provides the high-energy setting of group training, while executing the individualized training that we believe everyone deserves.

After an initial assessment the program is built out for what each client needs. Each program is specific to the individual from the warmup to the cool down.
