What a time at Blue Mountain.
Ran my first Spartan (third OCR) as a “Beast” 21k. Didn’t expect to run up and down the ski hill 8 times. Also didn’t expect to win my heat and get 4th overall in open!
In summary: the energy was electric, the weather was perfect, the people were inspiring, and it was successfully challenging. Facing adversity and pushing physical limits with hundreds of people on a sunny day in my home town... that was awesome.
Excited for next time.

(real convo a couple weeks ago) what do I mean?
“SELF CARE” doesn’t correlate well with pampering and getting your nails done 💁🏼‍♀️. Training and optimizing your health (which does entail recovery) is self care.
“TREAT YOURSELF” doesn’t make sense in a positive light when the subject makes you feel like 💩. More like sewer yourself.

Rest is important but “SELF LOVE” doesn’t always mean rest. Sometimes that means doing the hard things even when you don’t feel like it.
“I DESERVE THIS” do you?
*disclaimer: I have nothing against rest, pampering, getting your nails done, or taking it easy. I love kicking back and enjoying a treat. Just don’t carry detrimental habits, skip out on training, and call it self care.*

We’re back baby!!
Felt sooo happy getting out with the crew this weekend and getting to work.
Longest activity since my concussion, and first time running.
I did 20k hiking & 5k run to finish (in the middle of their 50k day), no symptoms.
Bad symptoms as I write this post (unrelated) but super pumped about this activity and looking forward to more.
6 weeks post crash, I’d say we’re at 80% recovery!

Failure to prepare is preparing to fail. Set yourself up for success!
Swipe through some of my recent meals to see some of my “success” in nutrition recently.
Super nutrient dense foods, eating more organic & fresh produce than ever, tracking intake, and fuelling for optimization.
I’ve built patterns over years of practice - and I still have years to work on my nutrition. We’re just getting started!

Simple, but effective. I use this method to build routines, to practice a skill, or to change a habit.
Currently I am using an app called Tasks by Google. Swipe to see what it looks like. Using this app gives me daily reminders and allows me to ‘check’ things off.
I am currently working on:
1. Implementing a mindful morning before work.
2. Practicing music daily
3. Using subscription services such as and to learn something new each day.
Results: I have played guitar on an off over the years... and after just 12 days of practicing guitar for 10-15 mins, I am as good as I’ve ever been.
