While it's natural to track progress, fixating solely on weight can lead to frustration and misguided efforts.

Let's set the record straight. Building muscle isn't about the numbers on the scale. It's about sculpting a physique that's strong, functional, and visually impressive. Whether your goal is to bulk up or lean down, focusing on sustainable muscle growth is key.

Let me ask by saying can your reps be improved? How good are your reps in the gym?

Throwback Thursday picture with at a venue in Red Deer Alberta I was guest posing at.

He is one of Canada's best ever bodybuilders.

His story in the sport is one of sheer resilience and persistence.

One of the things I loved seeing Big Ron do in the gym (we both trained at the same gym for years in Edmonton Alberta) was his attention to detail in his training, his intensity and rep quality.

He told me once that great physique athletes are at their best when they have everything down to an absolute routine.

He is totally right.

The Power Of Landmine Press

Attention, intelligent lifters! Let's talk scapular health and muscle stability. Ever considered the benefits of the Landmine Press?

By engaging in upward rotation movements, this exercise promotes optimal scapular function, a game changer for those desk-bound or battling shoulder issues.

Dedicate time each week to enhancing your scapular mobility. Not only does this improve chest, back, and shoulder workouts, but it also may help with ongoing shoulder problems. While the Landmine Press may not be your go-to for shoulder hypertrophy, incorporating it in your warm-up exercise can set the stage for upper body muscle gains.

Don't Dig Your Hole Deeper. A general rule for when Using Cable & Machines

What I mean is don't dig your recovery whole deep and deeper to the point of actually starting to lose precious muscle.

The truth is, you only typically need one hard set and not 4-5 hard intense sets.

However, this doesn't mean you are wishy-washy with your previous preparation sets.

You are still working solidly here just don't blow your energy by doing more.

Save all that precious energy just for that #1 all out important set, that final one.

Work really forcefully to create that stress but do it in a way where you are using all of your meatal capacity.

It truly is an inside job.

This is where mentally you leave nothing on the table.

I don't mean going to failure, what I mean is give intense focus like a laser beam that cuts through steel.

Leaving absolutely zero room for cheating maintaining complete integrity with the exercise, taking all that energy inwards, into that target muscle.

There is nothing else you are thinking about just the muscle you are training. You can not do this 4-5 times, one set after the other.

Use your precious energy wisely.

Beyond Testosterone Therapy

I wanted to share a personal update with you all. After much consideration and reflection, I've made the decision to stop testosterone therapy, and I'd like to tell you why.

For years, I relied on testosterone therapy to support my fitness journey and overall well-being. It seemed like the right solution at the time, but as I continued on my path, I began to question whether it was truly the best option for me.

As I delved deeper into understanding my body and exploring alternative approaches to health and fitness, I realized that relying solely on external supplementation was not aligned with my holistic wellness goals. I wanted to challenge myself to explore natural methods of optimizing my hormone levels and overall health.

Transitioning away from testosterone therapy has been a journey of self-discovery and empowerment. It's allowed me to take control of my health in a more holistic way and to explore new avenues for growth and improvement.

Now, I'm focused on developing my faith, nourishing my body with whole foods, prioritizing rest and recovery, and incorporating mindful practices like meditation and stress management into my daily routine. I'm excited to see how these changes will positively impact my fitness journey and overall well-being in the long run.

I understand that this decision may not be for everyone, and I respect everyone's individual choices when it comes to their health and fitness journey. Testosterone therapy helped me a lot after retiring from bodybuilding but for now I'm, stepping away from testosterone therapy. I truly believe it will be a step towards greater alignment with my values and goals.

I'm grateful to have you all alongside me on this path of growth and self-discovery.

Leveraging your own body weight offers a unique avenue for building strength, enhancing mobility, and refining movement precision.

Take, for instance, the glute-dominant Bulgarian split squat. Instead of immediately reaching for added resistance, investing time in perfecting the movement with just body weight lays a solid foundation.

This approach prioritizes skill acquisition over muscle damage, fostering a mindful connection between the body and its intricate movements.

Mastery of form not only ensures injury prevention but also establishes a neuro pathway, allowing for a seamless transition when incorporating additional load.

Embracing phases focused on movement precision before pursuing progressive overload not only builds confidence but lays the groundwork for sustained and effective muscle development.

Meet Eric, the maestro of muscle activation and attention to detail.

Training with him is like entering a whole new realm – humbling, challenging, and downright exhausting.

Eric's cues take every rep to another level. There's no escape. It's not just lifting, it's a battle for every inch of that rep.

There Is No Escape Zone. Those loads may seem deceiving, but trust me, there's no escape with Eric. After a session at , all I crave is a nap. Brain, body, and soul – utterly done. Stick a fork in me, I'm cooked!

Conventional vs. Eric Style:

Take the example in the picture. Conventional dumbbell laterals versus Eric's method – a world of difference. Drive those dumbbells far away from the midline, no matter the angle and so much more.
