I actually met Elaine at my eye doctor's appointment. We got chatting about fitness and she told me how she used to exercise but had fallen out of the routine and was feeling intimidated to get started again.
I think that's something so many people can relate to. We convince ourselves we need to get in shape before joining a gym when in reality the gym is the place that helps us get there.
What I admire most about Elaine is that even though she was nervous and didn't feel "fit enough" to start, she didn't let that stop her. She trusted the process, started with our onboarding program, stayed consistent, and the results have followed. She's already gaining muscle, building confidence and proving to herself that she is capable of far more than she thought.
The funny thing is that once she got here, she realized what I wish more people understood. Most of our members are just normal people. They work all day, come in, do their workout and go home. Nobody is judging. Nobody is comparing. We cheer for each other, support each other and want to see everyone succeed.
Elaine is a little shy at first, but once you get to know her, her sense of humor and laugh are hard to miss. She is lovely, humble and just genuinely fun to be around.
What stuck with me the most is that she's not doing this just for today. She's doing it because she wants to stay strong and independent later in life, for future grandkids, for herself and for the years ahead.
Elaine proves that sometimes what our brain tells us is going to happen and what actually happens are two completely different things. The hardest part is often just getting started.
