This month, we’re shining the spotlight on one of the familiar faces helping keep things running behind the scenes at Wild West Ranch Alberta, Cassie!

Originally from Southern Saskatchewan, Cassie grew up on a cattle and grain farm, with horses and the western way of life always close to home. Years later, horses found their way back into her everyday life when her daughter started riding at WWRA. It didn’t take long for Cassie and her family to feel right at home and what started with riding lessons soon grew into becoming part of the ranch family.

When she’s not helping out behind the scenes at WWRA, Cassie has plenty keeping her busy! She’s a mom of three and alongside her husband, helps run their family construction business, all while somehow keeping up with three kids and their schedules.

Most days, you’ll find her playing taxi to barrel racing land, games and everything in between. When she gets a chance to slow things down, Cassie loves escaping to the mountains, spending time with her family and enjoying the outdoors.

For Cassie, WWRA has become more than just the place her daughter rides, it’s become a community her whole family gets to be a part of.

We’re so happy to have Cassie as part of our WWRA family and appreciate everything she does behind the scenes to help keep our little ranch world running. 🤎

LIBERTY, GROUNDWORK & HORSEMANSHIP CLINIC 🐴✨

We’re excited to welcome Molly Poudrier Martino for a very unique and exciting Clinic at Wild West Ranch Alberta!

Horses have been a part of Molly’s life since she was six years old, starting with a basic foundation in reining. She later decided to explore English disciplines, focusing primarily on show jumping and dressage. She also gained some experience in barrel racing before eventually returning to her roots in reining. Since the beginning of her journey, horses became so much more than a passion. They’ve taught her to observe, to listen, and most importantly, to understand the language horses use to communicate with us.

For Molly, working with horses is a constant journey of building connection and understanding.

“Every horse is unique and always has something to teach us, if we take the time to truly listen.”

Her work focuses on developing flexibility, lightness and fluidity of movement, while creating a relationship built on trust and respect.

✨ And that’s where liberty work becomes so special.

Without relying on physical connection, liberty gives us the opportunity to communicate through body language, energy and understanding , creating a partnership where the horse isn’t simply being asked to participate, but chooses to participate with us.

During this clinic, Molly will share her approach to building that genuine connection and help participants better understand their horse’s reactions, emotions and communication.

Whether you’re brand new to liberty & ground work or looking to deepen the relationship you already have with your horse, this clinic is an opportunity to slow down, listen a little closer, and discover just how much our horses are saying to us. 🤎

2021 | DRAFT CROSS | BAY ROAN 🚺 | 16HH

Here’s one that won’t last long on the market 🫣

Dolly is a puppy dog ! She gets along with anyone in the field, she is easy to catch if shes not already at the gate greeting you. She loves the attention and all the love.

Dolly has been ridden in and outside the arena, shes been hauled to the mountains, hauled and entered to an event of skijoring, hauled to some gymkhana events, we roped the dummy a few times with her, used her for vaulting, even went over some jumps for fun !

Dolly has been around MANY kids, dogs, cats, goats, ponies, pig, chickens, name it. She was a super star during our summer camps !

Even tho she is on the bigger size, she is a very athletic lady. She has a smooth walk/trot/lope, a super cool stop, leg yield, turn on the haunches/front hand, we have been working on collection and spins lately and shes been a quick learner ! She is more woah then go, she isnt the spooky type at all.

She has been ridden by all level and age of riders, she is safe. But she is young and requires a confident rider to make her a solid, finish mount.

She is UTD Teeth/feet/dewormers/vax
Never took a lame step, she is sound. Big solid black feet, never had shoes on.
She is easy to load, haul, can tie her anywhere, stands for the farrier.

She is for sale due to no fault of her own. Her owner is a green rider that lacks confidence and needs something older that will wait for her.
We will consider trades.

Learning how horses move, how their bodies function, how they balance, where they carry tension and how our own position affects them is such an important part of developing a true partnership.

Happy Friday!

Our team showed up all summer long for the local Cochrane AG Society Jackpot series (which was ran so great!) Our team put in the work, cheered each other on and made some pretty great memories!

“ Wolf “ is the first to come say hi ! Puppy personality, he loves people ! He is extremely smart and willing, picks up fast on everything and wants to please. He uses his brain and is fun to work with. Hes been hauled a lot for exposure, he can stand at the trailer forever, youll forget he exists. Easy to load , tie , good with farrier , etc. He never had any injuries or lamness.

He has a solid w/t/l , stop and back up, leg yield . Progressing with collection and roll backs, turn on the haunches and forehand. He has a big but smooth stride. Hes been ridden bridle less in our big outdoor arena w/t/l and done all his things . He is not a spooky/looky type at all. Hes been slightly started in the barrel pattern and shows lots of potential! We took him to a couple barrel jackpot and trotted some time onlies.
We also threw the rope a few times off of him , took him through a bunch of cowboy challenge obstacles ( skinny bridge, teeter toter bridge, pool noodles, tarps, name it.. )Hes been ridden ba****ck , in and outside the arena . Weve been taking him on trails and on the road by the ranch with cars, truck and trailer driving buy, cows and wildlife, alone or with others and he’s been taking it all like a champ, every single time.

Hes one of the favourites around here , the kids around the ranch as been playing sooo much with him since he was a yearling, hes very desensitize😅 Hes used to dogs, cats, pig, goats, quad, tractor .. name it, he doesn’t care ! Hes gonna be very easy to get going your way in any direction youd like him to go and add the fancy buttons you like, thats for sure !

I would love to see him go to a performance home, but
If youre looking for :

- barrel prospect
- ranch / roping mount
- family friendly pet
- an all around mount for the family

Then you should come meet this guy !

He is an old soul type, but we have to remember that he is still young and still learning.

He seriously could go any direction, hes such a cool dude !

There is no buck/rear/bolt or any funny business.
He has solid black feet and hes great with the farrier. Got the vets out for a vet check a few months ago and went perfectly ( can provide records)
