Putting the jack and the bowl in the ditch. Didn't quite follow the jack but good enough to win the end

We started our tournament yesterday with a spider. For the benefit of non lawn bowlers it means all the players roll one bowl to a jack in the middle of the green. The winner is the player nearest the jack when all the bowls come to rest.

We had sixteen teams playing in the Bob Tough Memorial Tournament on Saturday September 12th. There were an odd number of members (43) so some teams were triples and some pairs. We played 3x10 end games.
In the first round, three teams scored the maximum 15 points. Two of those teams, Jacob Hyatt and Ralph Stoffers, repeated their first round maximum to set up a final game against one another. After round two the other two game winners were Terry Bradshaw and Brent Bayley.
In the final round Jacob had a convincing win 18 (15+3)-4 as did Terry with an even more convincing 20 (15+5)-5.

The full result was:
Winner: Jacob Hyatt and Ron Kinsey 3 wins 45 points
Second: Terry Bradshaw and Jan Moynes 3 wins 40 points
Third: Braden Saunders and Tom Bevan 2 wins 36 points
Fourth: Ralph Stoffers, Lyle Skidmore and Chriss Dinner 2 wins 34
One game High: John Saunders, Ken Bevan and Mary Thibault

Thanks to sponsors Al Bell and Laura Mounce and to Ann Tough who donated a bottle of whisky for the skills game which was won by Lori Wills.

Tomorrow we remember Robert Tough (Bob or Bobby) who passed 10 years ago, with a club tournament sponsored by his nephew Al Bell and Laura Mounce. Unfortunately Al and Laura can't be with us tomorrow but Ann Tough will be playing.

It should be a good day with a big turn out by the members and I'd like you to bring a touch of Scotland to the tournament in some way or another.
