Week 2 continued to build on the foundation established during our opening session as athletes progressed deeper into the Power Edge Pro methodology.

This week’s focus wasn’t simply about skating harder or handling the puck faster—it was about learning to execute multiple skills at the same time while making decisions under pressure.

Through Reactive Countering Training (R.C.T.), our athletes were challenged to process information, react instantly, and maintain puck control while navigating tight traffic spaces. Every repetition demanded edge control, puck placement, deception, and quick decision-making—the same skills required during real game situations.

Instead of skating around static obstacles, players were forced to:
🏒 Control the puck with soft, deceptive touches
⚡ Develop explosive edge work and efficient crossovers
🧠 Process and react to changing situations in real time
💪 Maintain speed and control in tight, high-pressure areas
🔥 Build confidence executing skills at game pace

One of the biggest differences with Power Edge Pro is the number of quality repetitions. Athletes receive up to five times more functional puck touches than traditional drill-based practices, creating habits that directly transfer into games.

As the series progresses each week, the drills continue to evolve, becoming faster, more complex, and more game-like. Each session builds on the last, allowing athletes to continually develop new layers of confidence, creativity, and hockey IQ.

The work doesn’t stop here—we continue building toward opening day.

🏒 WEEK 3 with the U18AA Peterborough IceKats! 💙❄️

Puck-It Development was back on the ice for Session 3 of 4 in the U18AA Ice Kats' Power Edge Pro (PEP) Team Development Series.

The girls were dialed in from the opening whistle. Their focus, work ethic, and attention to detail are outstanding throughout the entire session, and it shows in every drill. The progression over the past three weeks is evident, with cleaner ex*****on, quicker decisions, stronger edge control, and the confidence to perform skills at game speed under pressure.

What continues to stand out most is how this group embraces the process. Every repetition has a purpose, every battle is more competitive, and every session builds habits that will translate directly into game situations as they prepare for the upcoming season.

🏒 MASTER THE 7 SERIES | WEEK 1 COMPLETE 🏒

The first session of the Master the 7 Series is officially in the books, and it marked the beginning of our pre-season development journey! 💪🔥

Rather than jumping straight into high-intensity progression drills, Week 1 was intentionally designed to slow things down. Our focus was on establishing a strong baseline for every athlete by evaluating the key fundamentals that will serve as the foundation for the rest of the series.

Throughout the session, we assessed skating mechanics, edge control, puck skills, decision-making, balance, and overall movement patterns. This allowed our instructors to identify each player's strengths, areas for improvement, and the specific skills we'll continue to build on over the coming weeks as we prepare for the upcoming season.

Great development isn't about rushing through drills—it's about building the right habits first. The attention to detail, willingness to learn, and effort shown by every athlete made for an outstanding first session. Now that we've established our baseline, we're excited to progressively challenge our players each week, tracking improvements and continuing to develop the seven core areas of the game.

The work has just begun, and we're looking forward to watching every athlete gain confidence, improve their performance, and arrive at tryouts prepared to compete at their highest level. 🚨🏒
