We are family-owned and operated, beginning with our founders Hermann and Christa Kerckhoff in 1981. The Kerckhoff’s immigrated to Canada in the late ’50s and fell in love with Canadian rivers. Hermann and his daughter, Claudia, were the first kayakers to descend the Ottawa River; encountering a prime location for rafting. Today, the company is thriving as world-class whitewater destination thanks

to their current owners, Claudia and Dirk Van Wijk. The third generation is quickly becoming more involved as well, with Stefani Van Wijk as Director of our sister company, Madawaska Kanu Centre, and Katrina leading the graphic design.

Our last weekend of rafting is here! The Labour Day weekend brings us to the end of the 2026 rafting season. We have some fun and playful rapids to celebrate September with as the water level comes back up.

That’s two more weeks of cliff jumping.
Two weeks to surf the rapids.
A fortnight to learn what a thunder dunk is.
Two more weeks of rafting!
Our last day this season is Tuesday September 8th!

There’s still time to challenge the waves of the mighty Ottawa River before the end of the 2026 season.

On the Ottawa River there are flat water sections between the rapids that leave plenty of time for swimming, relaxing, and good old fun.

From here we go, we’ve got this, and this is chaos to we’re good and let’s do that again — there are a lot of stages you might go through in a rapid.

But that’s part of the fun.

With every rapid, the nerves settle, the confidence builds, and before you know it, you’re reading the waves, paddling harder and feeling pretty proud of what you just made it through.

By the end of the day, the question might not be “Can I do this?”. It might just be “What’s next?”

That’s the magic of whitewater — the river doesn’t just give you an adventure, it leaves you ready for the next one.

We made the hard decision to cancel official game play for our volleyball tournament due to low enrollment. But our rafting guests came out for a special game yesterday afternoon! Thank you for joining us.
